Latest update.....

I went to see my consultant yesterday and the good news is there has been definite, measurable progress. I can see more out of the right eye, and the bleeding has stopped. There's still some swelling in the optic nerve but this has been reduced. She's amazed with my diabetes and weight control - they usually go to pot on the steroids, but I've been really careful and the things I'm doing are clearly working.

We're starting to reduce the steroid dose to try to find the level that my eyes will need going forward which is good progress - hopefully no issues from that, but if I need to go back up it's no drama.

I won't know whether I'll be able to drive/ride for about 3 months, but that will come soon enough. It's at times like this I'm glad I live in a big city with (in reality) excellent public transport. I'm getting used to being a bus/train wanker now....please don't ban me! :D

Thanks for all the messages of support here and on Facebook - they really do help keep my spirits up.

Oh, and let's hope for good weather at the next Bank Holiday cos if it's fine my mate's gonna take me as a pillion to the WSB at Donington which will be great.

Very promising news mate. I hope this helps drive away the dark thoughts you are bound to have had about your sight.
