If you want it, get it.

My only issue would be using such a nice bike for all year round daily commutes.

If you could afford it, I would consider something more practical for the day to day stuff. Keep your current 1050 and do that up. If you've got a second bike you can take your time rebuilding the 1050 so it doesn't look like something they found on the Mary Rose.

Are there any cheap Tiger 800s going at work?

The missus has said if we can afford it I can get it. But it all depends if I can get a 0% credit card with a big enough limit to buy it. That's the only way I can make it work. And then sell at the end of each year and buy a new one. Paying off the card each time. I should sell for more than depreciation. And then balance transfer to keep 0% or pay off the original card.

I also said I could sell my current S3 and that is 4 to 5k we can spend on the house.

I know what you mean about commuting in shitty weather and having a hack. But to be honest I've been driving for best part of a year now. I might just do that when the salt comes out, which should keep the miles and corrosion down. And in 1 year the bike should still be in good nick...... maybe

Which bank are you with? Try them or see if your mortgage company does credit cards.

I know Lloyds bank are doing 0% on purchases.

I used that MArtin fellas webite (moneysupermarket is it?) which advised MBNA. as it gives up to 27 months interest free. But it depends on circumstances, so until I apply I've no idea.

It did give a 100% preapproval though on a soft search (i.e. one that is not counted against credit checks).

I am with Nationwide. I don't think they do 0% credit cards.

Martin Lewis' preapproval works everytime. I had 95% pre approval for 27 months MBNA and got accepted. I opted for them to not up my credit limit but when I needed it upped by £2k they did it overnight.

Nationwide are doing 0% for 12 months on purchases.

If you have your mortgage with them and you have equity in the house they might be more likely to give you the credit limit you're after

my only issue with nationwide is only 12mths. Which might make selling the bike and paying it off before the promotion ends tricky.

You move credit cards. Loads of them do 0% on balance transfers.

Just a suggestion in cause you're struggling to get the credit card limit you're after. Give Nationwide a call and see if they can help you out.

They had the new white Speed Triple in Staffs Triumph a few weeks ago. Looks very nice.

Any idea on what the new Street Triple colours will be, D6?

no idea I don't deal with the painted side of things. I never knew about the S3 scheme above until the other day.

think I am going to leave things a week. Got someone coming round next week to have another go at removing the broken stud. its probably best to know If I can get my bike back on the road cheaply or not.
