They did deteriorate quickly. Once they started going in the 20 miles to the garage you could see the cord all the way round...

Cracking write up Cookie, I felt for you with the tyre woes, I’ve had one tyre (one only) go down to the canvas and tbh it felt ok, yours could have been a disaster!

Fingers crossed for some hot French lady biker pics from someone.....

Ha ha You are not likely to see any photo's of the hot french biker lady, her fella was like a shadow, did not leave her side (the side that was between us and her) the whole time we were in / out of the shop., LOL.... Cant blame him really In the end she went home without her new bike, seems things were not ready, and she drove him as well ha ha....away in the car. We cleared off on our next leg in the warm sunshine.
Oh how We wished the next day could have been the same... Oh well always next years ?

I think Cookie has summed up the trip remarkably well so i wont repeat that but here are a few of my highs and some lows:

Lows:
Rain - too much of it.
Big mile days - Think i might be getting too old to do 300+ mile days on a regular basis.
Monsieur Le Grumpy **** in the bike shop when Cookie needed a new tyre.

That's it for lows.

Highs:
Riding bikes in France - The majority of road users are very accommodating to bikes in the mirror. Most move over to let you past. Even a massive coach did this for us one afternoon. Less traffic and most are not in a huge rush and on the edge of wanting to murder someone. They don't get irate and angry. 5 minutes back in the UK yesterday made you realise that we have it all wrong.

Roundabouts on the French equivalent of A and B roads. For about 500m after exiting the roundabout, the road turns into two lanes to allow faster traffic to get past the slower ones. Genius.

French food and beer - Exemplary. And the most amazing coffee too. and Crossiants. And cakes.

Ferry crossing Caen/Portsmouth - very smooth and even though it was a six hour crossing it passed easily as the ferry is big and plenty to see and eat.

Scenery - Even though what was supposed to be the best riding day was wet, the scenery was still stunning. Jura mountains is definitely a place to return one day. Proper biking roads too.

The posh hotel that let us stop for coffee when we were soaking wet and getting cold - Not a problem to them at all.

French towns and cities - Just amazing. architecture and food.

French ladies - So much eye candy and they don't seem to lose that as they add a few years.


All in another great trip, even though the weather could have been better.
Great riding, great mates, great food and more experiences, memories and education to add to the hard drive in my mind.

Sounds like a cracking trip fellas. Glad 6ou had a good time just shame about the rain though

Oh and my Oxford jacket was superb. Not a drop of water got through and it was super comfy when the temperature turned to High. Might consider the matching trousers at some point,.

My aim from this year is to sort my waterproofs. Mine have had it and I wore summer gloves. I got soaked most of the time.

New gloves, waterproofs or jacket at least.

I've just contacted one of the managers to see if I can get some of the mondial set. Good to hear a real world review

Sounds great fellas. I really need to some better riding as commuting is draining the fun.
