Tell me about HJC Helmets

After reading the dropped helmet thread i realized that my GT air has been dropped twice and is now 5 years old so its due for replacement.

After trying on so many helmets i got a headache HJC fit perfectly if i go up a size.

Has anyone used them and how do they hold up over time?

Im also trying to decide weather to get a RPHA 70 (roughly equivalent to the GT air) or the 90 flip front.

A few of us have them on here. You do get what you pay for but HTC are always bringing out new models so old stock is cheap.

mine is a hjc helmet, and to be honest I couldn't be happier with it, my last helmet was a shoei nxr 1100 and I loved how wide the field of vision was compared to the old AGV's I were using was, I was skepitcal but the HJC was under £200 and 5 star sharp rated, it is easily on par with my shoei of twice the price, weight is about the same, noise is probably better, its a little more snug fitting but not uncomfortably so, but then that could just be coz the shoei was old, Id but HJC again in a heartbeat,

I have 3 HJC helmets, they fit my head great and I find them really comfortable, crash tested the last one and it held up fine.

Great stuff and glad you are okay after the crash test.

Just got to pick one now, the objective is to both try something new and save some money... Then I saw the Carbon Fibre.

That looks pretty flash Stonesie.
I take it it's not quite the money saver you were hoping for.?

Fwiw I find the lightweight of my carbon lid quite beneficial (although it's not until I change back to the Shark that I realise the difference.

Infinity Motorcycles are selling them for £400 but have sold out of XL, the size I need. My local J&S want £470 for the Carbon but I buy almost all of my gear from them so they might be willing to budge on price, I will ask.

Or there's the Black/Red. for £100 less.

You bugger.....*goes off to check $AU price in HJC Carbon lid*

*Edit. Saved by the fact it doesn’t look like I can buy it in Aussie unless I buy online from overseas. And then it’s $800-1000. Not laying out that dish on something I can’t look at first.

Yea i have a HJC RPHA 11. I personally love the lid. Great field of vision, light and feels very stable at speed. A little snug around the cheek area but if I went up a size id be able to move the lid around whilst in my head which isn't ideal! I rate HJC I also have a AGV (something, similar type to the HJC can't remember what they are called) but the HJC in my opinion out shines the AGV

I have an old carbon HJC lightest lid I have owned, still my preferred lid when I go out on a nice sunny day.
The lastest lid I bought is again a HJC, with the flip down dark visor inside.
This I bought to replace my GT air as I could no get on with it.

Again a good lid, I noticed the visors have got thicker, which at night causes a slightly strange effect with the lights on the outer edges of the visor, hard to describe the effect, not a major issue.

I love my Arai, but the prices are just too high, my HJC have been a very good replacement for my road riding usesage. The Arai is still my track lid, as it gives me great vision when I have my head down :)

Happy lid selecting, hopefully it takes you less time than Rossgo....LMAO

My mate has a RPHA-70 helmet that he got for a couple of hundred. Very good ventilation, not too noisy compared to other helmets he's used and my other mate can vouch for the crash protection of a RPHA-10 after hitting the deck from vertical. The helmet was properly smashed in yet he remained conscious throughout and didn't suffer concussion.

I have a RPHA-10 (Ben Spies) and my only grumble is with the matt paint finish. It's notorious to clean and very thin - the white is now brown (N)

Got a RHPA10 Lorenzo Rep with 3 visors (clear,smoke,black) for £220.

Had shoei and Arai that cost well over double but never double the lid.

Some of the Cheaper HJC lids are not surprisingly cheap feeling, but go for the higher specified models and you won't be disappointed.

The fact there popular with regular TD riders said a lot about the performance and safety to me.

Got it!
What the pictures don't really show is the metallic lacquer and dark chrome vents, they just look grey on pictures. I might take some pics after work, had to leave it in the office for now.
