I like the sound of this. Large commercial factory farms are a massive drain on resources and the environment. In addition, cultured meat would be relatively waste free (in terms of use of the animal) and free of antibiotics and other chemicals.

Ironically it wont be very good for chickens in the long term.

I suspect we'll still need them for eggs.

At least you know lab chicken will be closer to chicken than the stuff you get in KFC.

I dont lile the idea. No, to be more specific I dont like the idea of a lab giving me food. Labs are for experimenting, or meth, not my Sunday chicken dinner!

Rossgo, the food you get now is pretty much made to order, with most meat pumped full of all sorts of shit.

Lab made meat would be free of all of that and be cruelty free.

Think we are going about it the wrong way. We are trying to feed the masses. We need to get rid of the masses for the world to be able to breath! There is no need for cruelty if we do it correctly and for a more comfortable number

I worked with a polish lad who worked in Holland for a while. He did different jobs around Europe and one of his jobs was in a chicken farm. He said it was disgusting, smelt, dirty, the chickens would be kicked, beaten, stamped on, they just didn't care.

Short story. Get rid of the arseholes in this world and there would be no need for labs to be giving us food

I want to know what it tastes like.
End of the day, if it tastes just like real meat, and the texture is more or less the same, then I'm open to the idea.....it would certainly be more uniform, and might even be better.

And if it saves a cow or two then that's fine too, I just wouldn't eat it BECAUSE it saved a cow.

Don't get me wrong if lile to try it but isn't it detaching ourselves even further from.the truth? We are meat eaters, meat comes from animals, we need to teach correct humane ways of killing, not go to a totally different way because we can't deal with the truth.

Also what does that mean for vegetarians? Can they eat this meat or not...because I will not allow those guys to eat my food, we have our food they can stick to their own food, they can't have our ways too

That's a good question.

Technically vegetarians can't eat it as it's meat. Theirs iis a meat free diet.

Vegans can eat it because an animal isn't used to make it.

Well vegans can get f'ed. Its our food not theirs. They stick with their celery sticks. I'm putting my name on my food!

No....vegetarians would be fine as it's not meat from an animal. Nothing died in the process.

And then 30 yrs down the track we will discover it causes cancer because once again we have f**ked with the fragile balance of nature. You change one little analog of a molecule and you can completely change a substance.

I’m constantly on the hunt to reduce processed foods I consume so not interested in going to lab created food at all.

That isn't what vegetarian means. It means meat free.

Yes. But it's for moral or religious reasons more than anything. This stuff is artificial...it never lived, no animal was hurt in the making of this burger, etc.
