Tiger 1200, no chain to mess with and still pretty quick, electric adjustment for the screen too.

I'm not looking to replace the ATAS but I might park it through the dealer's window if it carries on playing up.

A Tiger 800 would be too close to the Versys. I could get rid of both the Kwak and the Honda and have something like the new Versys 1000 SE or one of the bigger Tigers.

But the reason for 3 bikes is having one for touring, one for work and one for weekend warrior antics.

I'm at risk of getting kicked out of this forum... but are 3 bikes necessary? Can you combine the tourer/commuter and keep the F3?

No, 3 bikes isn't necessary. I'm in a fortunate position of being able to own 3 bikes though.

But take this week for example. The Versys is off the road so I can use the AT for commuting. The MV is in no way able to deal with the job of carting me and my work through traffic in a range of conditions. I think it would kill me and the bike. Commuting is pretty hard on a bike.

The plan was to have the Versys for commuting. It's happy doing that job. It's taken a battering through the winters and come out pretty well. It's a very simple machine, easy to keep and look after. Servicing is cheap as are the tyres.

I want to keep the AT and the MV long term. The plan is to look after them and use them sparingly as and when needed. The AT is great for long distances, it's comfortable for passengers and with the panniers on it it can carry a decent load. As the kids get older I want to spend more time doing decent journeys on a bike while I can and hopefully some of those will be with my wife.

The AT is great for commuting but a winter would kill it. I took it out in December to the dealers and didn't wash it when I got home. The salt has managed to leave its mark. Plus it's pretty heavy and with those tall wheels I suspect it's not going to be the easiest to use during winter when the roads are cold and wet.

So I could drop to 2 bikes. Like I said, maybe the big version of the Versys would fit the role of commuter and tourer nicely, but after a couple of years it'll be worthless because of the miles on the clock.

Couldn't agree more defo get a full tank from them and next years service. They would be able to help you easily with that. Shocked that it's started to leak again would of thought Honda know what they were doing to be honest

Mistakes happen in a busy workshop, it might be that your oil leak required parts that got used on another unforeseen failure and there wasn’t time to reorder, it might be the guy slated to do it was out sick that day and the trainee did it, could be any one of a variety of reasons.

Thing is it’s their fault and they have to pay, they know it as well, so I’d guess they’ll be ready for a fight when you get there.

Maybe Hondas aren’t as bulletproof as they used to be?

Where is it leaking from?

It's leaking from one of the sensors. Last time they just replaced the seal, this time they've replaced the seal and the sensor housing. No sign of a leak from the journey home.

At least there was no messing about. Hopefully it's now fixed.

It really was a tiny leak as well, but I wanted it sorted.

It appears to be resolved. No leaks last night nor this morning.

They had a red Tiger 1200 XRt parked outside the dealers last night. I have to say it's a good looking bike for this bike type.

They also had one of the new Scramblers. Rich wouldn't let me steal it because it's got no miles on it. My offer to run it in with a trip to Europe was quickly refused.

Triumph are making some nice bikes at the moment.

Yes I like the new 1200. Nice looking bike and come with a load of stuff. And you can get a factory fit quickshifter Image

The XRt is dripping with tech and gizmos (technical term).

Rich owes me a favour or two so I'll badger him for a test ride.

Haha I know.. I can recite the gizmos I've looked into them that much. Top bike with a top price to match

They're not the cheapest of bikes and my mate tells me that Triumph are less than keen for their dealers to discount.

Yeah that's my gripe. Regardless of how dam good the bike is or what's on it . I find it almost impossible to justify £16-18 thousand quid for a two wheels. And can't bring myself to want the base model as that would be pointless IMO. Rather have the fully loaded 800xca.
