Can I come back please ???

I call in most days without logging on just to keep up. I sold my road bike 2 years ago now but recently bought a little 125 off road to keep my hands in

Went on a Mick Extance experience day in Wales back end of July which was entertaining and frustrating and hope to ride with my Grandson on the odd occasion when I get back to Oxford

Personal life is still pretty much the same apart from deciding to put my current house up for sale in a couple of weeks , just going round freshening paint work and doing all those silly jobs that we never got round to doing in 3 years of being here
Unfortunately that meant re-roofing the stables and workshop as it wouldn't look good when a surveyor turns up... Finally done apart from end batons to be put on and underhand boards to be screwed in

I read the "possible house move " thread from Kwacky with interest.. firstly it was "thank God it's not me " to " oh crap I've got all that to look forward to...not"

Still has to be done to get to where we want to be...mind you it's not that easy to find what we are looking for... we have 6 bedrooms here and we only use one, the kitchen and office are the only other rooms that get lived in .. lounge probably once or twice a year.. turby tops the tortoise lives in a dining room . So if any one has a 2 bed , preferably bungalow with just under an acre within 25 miles of Oxford then give me a nudge

Viewing will be a nightmare as we can only do weekends when both of us are here, one to show round and one to separate the dogs and move them around and trying to do this at the muddiest part of the year when we live in wellies most of the time will be horrendous

Thankfully I have a good friend with an estate agency who is an independent, lives about 70 miles away but he is very good at holding a deal together after an offer is on the table.. used him and his wife a few times and they specialise in small holdings, usually in Wales but only 40 miles from the welsh border so within the realms of all those English people who want to get out of the rat race without leaving England .Fingers crossed this will be the last Xmas here but who knows ..I fear it could be up for sometime

Hope the rest of you are doing well.. from what I read apart from Kiwi and his back problems ... Right that's it for now...off to re-mastic the utility room sink !!

There's always a warm welcome for returning slappers, no matter how long you've been gone.

I'm hoping your house move is swift and painless.

I dare to dream Kwacky, but even if the process is as easy as can be, it's the moving of animals which is a logistical nightmare

I don't think you'd want him, he has his own room with his heat lamp on 12 hours a day and doesn't give a lot back :D he is picky with his food and goes through very large boxes on average 3 times a week.. can bite if he chooses to but after being with me for 12 years he is part of the crew

And there was me presuming that he'd been caught treating his teacher to some TonyB attention.

I wish I wasn't sometimes.. I have had 10 feral kittens to hand rear and re-home plus neutering , my daughter took 3 of the most venomous cats I'd ever encountered and are all semi domesticated now .. I will have to take 8 ferals with me..not looking forward to catching them , they will be seriously cross .
lost half my pigs and half my bird flock, still have 6 dogs but they are easy to move

Our stable cats are both getting rather elderly, not sure how much longer they will continue to remain effective in culling any rodent populations.
I would love to introduce a feral kitten to maintain the balance, however Deany is not so keen.
The stables are "her department", and as our cats live in & around that area it's her call.
Also whenever we've checked out the local pet-rescue centres, they only ever seem to have house cats/kittens. I've try asking about the availability of something more feral, but the looks I get back infer that if that's how I plan to treat one of their animals, they will not be re-homing anything with us.

Did you notice the recent "Pets" thread that Kwackers has recently set up.?

I have 3 new feral kittens and are slowly coming round , I feed them twice a day .. they live in the barn as well and no rodents... a bonus when you have hens , ducks and turkeys
I will check out the pet section...it might get a bit full later.. With the ferals I just couldn't leave them behind... the dogs hate them but I think they all use it as some kind of game to get one up on each other

certainly do Kiwi, but to be honest I prefer animals than some people, or some people I come across ... It does get a bit much sometimes... neither of us have had a proper holiday in 12 years as there is always someone here

Thanks Rossgo, I read you went to the theatre the other day , so glad you liked it. Last week I went to see "Bat out of hell" at the Dominion... On the tickets you were requested not to dance and get out of your seats !! I spent the whole 3 hours jigging in a very small space sat down with some evil eyes on me behind.
The story was loose to say the least but always love a theatre production but if you go don't dance :D

Rossgo was jiggling in his seat at Chicago recently. Iirc he would have happily got up & danced with the cast too. (happy)
