following on from shoulder op !!

As you all know I had the op on my shoulder a while back, they kept me in overnight as my blood oxygen level was a bit low, then it dropped dramatically when I fell asleep, this was due to my sleep Apnea. The surgeon said I had to see my doctor about it and get referred to the apnea clinic at the hospital. This happened last week in which I had to wear a wrist machine and a finger blood oxygen reader at home for 2 nights
I had to take the machine back and get my readings off the doctor, terrible news, she said it was one of the worst she'd seen and basically I don't get any proper sleep at all, and she said I was borderline being reported to the DVLA regarding driving !!!!! I think the look of horror on my face must have been a picture.
So I was back again this morning to pick up CPAP machine which Is basically a mask you wear in bed that forces air into you to stop the throat muscles from closing and stopping you breathing.
Got to try it for 6 weeks then be assessed again, its got to work theres no way I can not have a licence, apart from having 4 motorbikes :D

Oh the joys of getting old ;(

At least it has been picked up and they're tackling it.

Did you find yourself being tired all the time?

Hopefully you've spotted it in time and it's reversible.

Hopefully they'll be able to sort it, now at least they know there's something to sort. -Finding any problem too late must be far worse.?

(wait) Think positive mate: None of us like the side effects, but it's far preferable to the only known alternative. (nod)

The wife had those tests done a year ago an they decided it wasn’t serious enough to need anything further. Hopefully they can sort it easily so you can carry on as before.

Hi there Mick, fwiw my Brother had a very similar diagnosis a couple of years back and is on a sleep pump/mask as well, he’s kipped at ours in the past and tbh you can’t hear it running. He tells me he feels so fresh in the morning compared to before he got the machine, the only downside is the marks on his face the elastic straps leave first thing! A handy side effect is the instant cure for snoring, so Mrs Kingfixer should be a happy camper as well. ;)

P.S. His guilty pleasure is a sleepy lay in on a Sunday without the mask after he’s woken up the first time, although I’m told he’s forgotten to put it on from time to time depending on how far down the bottle we’ve drunk that particular evening.

Good luck with it Mick, cheers, DG. (y)

You won't have room for them all, Frankie so I I'll keep the 999 safe for him. :D

Sorry to hear this, fingers crosses the mask helps a lot. That nust of been a bit of a kick in the teeth when they said about DVLA. Was you always tired before?
