Great pic Cav, looks like it was a top day!

It was great fun as a dog lover. The only downside to it was one dog in particular was snapping at any dog that went near it and repeatedly attacked another dog. Bear in mind I had a camera hanging from my neck, I was the only one that really tried to intervene.

At one point I managed to pin the dog to the floor by its neck with my only free hand but it struggled free and went for the dog again. 2nd time I grabbed it's neck and jumped on it to stop it. The owner comes sauntering over, seemingly annoyed I jumped on their dog, and exclaims, "I've got her now!"... she really didn't. I kept hold of the dog collar until she was 100% on the lead. She left shortly afterwards.

As most of you will know I did 3 days at Portimao and was pleased to find out Alex James was doing the photos. He got some cracking shots and I always see his stuff being shared on FB - he is really good at what he does.

Now.. I wouldn't say I'm disappointed in my photos because I'm not (Peter Wileman would have missed all of the good shots of me) but even someone as good as Alex James doesn't nail every shot.

The pictures below show this.
Picture 1 is perfectly in focus and he tracked me as the subject perfectly.
Pictures 2 & 3, while good shots, he didn't manage to track me too great resulting in photos which are in focus but motion blurred.

A side subject... how can you rescue motion blurred shots? I want to hang the elbow down shot in my workshop but not in it's current state.

Number 3 looks like you're jumping. The tarmac needs to be made darker to stop it blending in to the background.

I am jumping.. there's no tarmac in this photo!!!

That's how dark the sky was though, hammering down with rain all around us but not a single drop on the visor all day

I can't help here at all but I think those are cracking shots!

1 is a decent shot I'm assuming thats a fast part of the circuit .
2 can't fix it , unless you are a photoshop genius with time to spare , lots of time .
3 looks like it was shot on auto white balance , I'd adjust the contrast .

1 - it's top of 2nd gear approaching the first of 2 crests on the mountain.
2 - bollocks. I only have lightroom so I guess I'll just admire that on my phone screen instead.
3 - more contrast, colder WB?

I think all the pictures are flat to be fair. I'm going to drop him a message and ask for the RAW files I think - he probably won't give them over though.

Just a little fettling on mobile from a screen shot - a little better???

Someone with Lightroom and Photoshop should be able to sort out. If you get RAW file, even better.

I doubt he has RAW files , I think he shoots JPEG , it saves time in post .

If you have lightroom just play around with the contrast / white balance until you get something you like , also crop image 2 so you are more central .

Some post production on an iPad, removing people in the background and filters but taken on an iPhone.

a lot will depend on what he wants to shoot , the best thing he can do is play with it and experiment .
