Never easy mate. Hope your new house has gone up by a similar amount and you get it all sorted soon and move in asap.

The market isn't slow around this area of Brum. My wife is a local estate agent. They had a closed bidding system for a house today and there were 18 bids. My house took about 5 hours to sell.

Fwiw the market is still positive here too mate, but nationally there does seem to be a perceptible change in the air.
Hopefully just a (long overdue?) glitch.
However I can't help feeling it could be another indicator of the approaching "2nd Dark Ages". (aka a post Brexit "no longer united" kingdom)

Anyway, enough negativity, good to learn you're still moving in the right direction.
I've forgotten, is it in Bell End.?

Good to hear it's moving forward but clearly it's a shame it's taken so long. Lucky you guys are in the right careers to get things sorted!

So while we were on holiday the woman we're buying from told us that she can move on the 17th.

Yep, this Friday. Nothing like a bit of warning.

To make things better, she told us about loads of dates she can't do because of work. She's a headmaster so she would have known about these dates back in June, but while we're away in the middle of August was obviously the best time to tell us she could do the 17th or the 20th of August, possibly the 21st but nothing else this month.

If I wasn't buying her house I would go round and brick her windows.

sounds like me and my wife too haha, when we moved about a week after we moved in the seller called asking for some things they had left in the house (old washing machine and fridge which we had dumped) I took great pleasure in telling her to get lost after the hassle she put us through

Sam has got a local removal company round at lunchtime to give us a quote. I'm going to pay for packing as well, sod it, they know what they're doing and it makes it easier for them to move stuff out of our house and into the new one. They're even happy to deal with the spiders.

They may be happy to deal with the spids but are you happy letting them? be horrible if they injure any by being rough with enclosures

Yep, they've dealt with exotics before so they know what they're doing.

When I brought a little house last year, I had to have a telephone conversation with the vendor regarding some property of theirs that I discovered had been left in the loft. (angel)
:) Conversation went well, he was appreciative and his tone was becoming increasingly amicable. He started to embroil me with useful information about various neighbours etc etc..
At this point I took the opportunity to broach the subject of the inordinate length of time it had taken from my offer being accepted to the exchange of documents. I went on to briefly share my views on the inefficiency & outdated procedures, and of the "legalised cartel" who endeavour to retain it as their private revenue stream.
Rather than reciprocate & also lament the inefficiency of his solicitors, he shortly & curtly ended our conversation.
I've subsequently learnt that he works for a conveyancing solicitor. (facepalm)

o/ Great to hear that you're finally getting your new place Kwacky,. -Have you set a date for the housewarming party yet.?
