Hey guys, I,ve been to Triumph in Manchester this afternoon. Seen a brand new 765 tripple R for £8500 and on finance over 5 yrs monthly payments are £168. £500 deposit to be paid in advance.

There was also a 675 on 66 plate 7000 pounds with at least £1000 worth of useful bling on it, like race can and engine and body protectors etc. This one financed over 5 yrs would cost about £132 a month.

Now heres my dilema. Should I get a brand new bike which is more powerful and fork out £36 a month more or should I get the 2nd hand one which has 3000 miles on it and its less powerful but with £1000 worth of good stuff on it?
For both bikes I need to put a deposit of 500 quid too.

For a £1 a day more I'd go for a brand new bike.

Do some online insurance quotes and see what the difference is.

Have you taken them out for a ride?

Both are excellent bikes. It depends what you like the look of.

What's the Apr on those loans? It might be cheaper to get a bank loan.

Or a 67 plate 675 with more bling fewer miles 12 months warranty and full security fur just £250 more

Dont make matters worse kwacky by putting more ideas in my head. Hehehe
I cant get a loan cos I,m not working yet but I can get hp loan. Dont ask me why but its like that.

But overall the guy reckons theres not much difference between the old 675 and the new 765. What do u think?

I intend to test them both though before I commit to buying either of them.

Also Kwacky... What are the Triumphs like for reliability?
I really like one of these bikes though b,cos first of all they,re British and secondly they have a certain style that the Japanese bikes don,t.

Is the 675 the R model?

Both bikes are pretty much spot on for road riding and occasional track use. The 765 has electronic rider aids which the 675 doesn't.

You'll have fun on either.

Triumph reliability is really good now.

My only thinking guiding me towards the 675 is that not only I save £36 a month and I would also save a £1000 on buying a race can and some other useful bling that the 675 has.

Kwacky I,ve decided to go for the new one out of the two cos its brand new on an 18 plate a more modern bike, more powerful with 2 full years of warranty. Its worth paying a little bit more for and after 5 years will that much be wortth more than the 675 model. I,ll worry about adding race can etc. At a later date. Thanks for your help mate. A race can on the 765 will make almost no difference at all, so don't waste your money on one.

Really? Not even sound wise?

Very little change in sound, certainly not much louder. The new regulations mean the sound is killed before it gets to the exhaust.

I don’t think you’ll go far wrong with either. Personally I’d go for the bling, but I’m tight and like bling! Especially bling that someone else has paid for

I,m not really a bling enthusiast Monty but I,m more of a futuristic proff who thinks about long term gains and value adding ideas.
I,d pay more for the new bike but at the end of 5 yr term the bike will be worth about that much more. In the mean time I,ll be riding a better bike in terms of having more power, better control and more modern technology.

All of that is true apart from the potential future value. The 765 has been massively popular for Triumph, so there will be loads available on the used market.

Surely the new 765 gotta be worth more than a 2 yr old 675 in 5 yrs time.

The new 765 will cost me about 2k more but that will still be on the bike value in 5 yrs time surely. Am I right?
