Just received a recorded delivery letter from Triumph France with a safety recall for the bike.

Apparently the left hand switchgear will need replacing as they have a tendency to let in water and cause problems with the headlights and indicators. A redesigned unit is now available and they want to fit it free of charge, so good service there. I've not had any problems with it, but best to get it done.

It needs a service in 6 weeks time (i've then had the bike a year!) so i'll hopefully get it done then.

That year has gone very quickly, cant beleive That! What a year with it though

Famous last words. Service has been re-arranged due to cockup at their end. Now the end of September and they might not have a Speed RS to test then. Will see nearer the time

I forgot to update this. Got it serviced eventually in mid September, good service from them as they are always very helpful and it's a busy dealership considering it's a small one in the middle of nowhere really.

They swopped my left hand switchgear on a recall (the original let in water apparently) - all works well but the switchgear is definitely harder to push / use. No big issue, but it needs using to bed it in i guess. They also seem to have moved the controls slightly as it's not as easy to accidently hit the horn, so thats a good thing.

Now they also mentioned they did something to the throttle bodies, but the detail escaped me in translation, but on the way back the bike felt stronger and slightly louder (mainly induction roar) but i put it down to my imagination, however i've been out a few times on it since and its definately stronger at the bottom end and pulls harder.

I wonder whether they adjust it after a year of use of if it was not setup properly from the factory. It's faster and even better now

It's a great bike - one year on and i still love it. Does everything well and does corners brilliantly.

They have probably updated the map.

I went to look at some s/h ones last weekend whne out on the bike.

£4,500 buys a lot of Street Triple.

Most manufacturers are constantly updating maps so it's probably the latest map.

My Ducati was the same

Yep, they are a good buy. I'm pissed off I sold mine now that we've moved house. That was a cracking little bike.

I kinda miss my STR too, it doesn't help that a friend has just bought a tidy black Mk1 for about £3k...
I think one would be a good partner for the big GT, must work on that lottery win.

If this isn't too expensive I'm buying this next year for sure.

Triumph are offering a TFT upgrade for all their current crop of bikes with TFT screens to include Google Navigation, GoPro controls and other phone stuff.

Be great for touring. Oh and they have it at Milan so i'll be having a look...

New biking season approaching and I'm considering a few little upgrades.

I'm going to get a bellypan, but not black like the bike. They do a Red one for the 'S' model so i reckon it will look good as one of the main reasons for buying the R (as well as budget at the time) was the black and red.

I'm also going to get a quickshifter (even though i said i didnt need one...) but for £95 ShiftingControll do one as most of the kit is already on the bike.

Black Brake levers too. Probably ASV with red accents.



I'm debating a tail tidy, but you do get a lot of crap flung onto your back when it's wet or muddy so i'm not sure yet.

Probably get them all in Feb and then get them on the bike at some point.

Should all add up to a good looking bike methinks.

Red belly pan looks good. A black one would just disappear into the black engine.
