I definitely want one after seeing these videos. Triumph have done very well with the hype!!

I heard an interview the other day that said the old Honda Moto2 engines are only 125bhp. I call bullsh!t. The ZX6R can get 125bhp at the wheel with simple bolt on mods. Supersport 600s are north of 130bhp.

Then for Triumph to only say north of 135bhp or whatever the figure was... such lies

Such lies??

Well....how much HP do you think they make??
"North of 135hp" leaves a lot of wiggle room.

The current crop of Moto2 bikes are at least 140bhp at the wheel (165.2bhp at the crank)

The triumph will be easily north of 150bhp, probably more like 155-160bhp (182.9-188.8bhp at the crank).

It isn't uncommon for a 675 to make 135bhp in superstock trim, supersport will be 145-150bhp. Add another 90CC via bore enlargement and you've got some incredible increases in peak power. Obviously "north of 135" isn't untruthful but at least tell something vaguely realistic

A stock 765RS kicks out about 120bhp. The Daytona 675 engine could produce more but it had better internals.

If the 765 Moto2 engine has better internals than the factory 765 engine (which you would expect) then 135 - 140 bhp is easy to obtain.

If memory serves me correctly the extra CC was made by extracting as much volume as safely possible from the 675 block. The majority of which was created via enlarging the bore which generates more power at the top end (hence Ducati creating "over-square" engines). The fact the 765RS produces less power than a 675 daytona says to me that they've either done something with the cams to give the midrange or it's electronically restricted on power. Either way, the 765 Moto2 engine will have an engine with far less intertia and overall weight and with the bore they now have I seriously doubt it will be less than 155bhp at the wheel.

I'd still love to own one of the Honda Moto2 bikes !! haha

It's the internals. They're better on the later versions of the 675 Daytona

I'll find the details later on.

135-140 is the figure I remember being bandied about when they first committed to the series.

The basics of the Moto2 engines are standard road bike engines.

I don;'t think they are tuned for big power.

I believe they are around the 140 bhp mark , I imagine they haven't gone too extreme so as to maintain reliability , if they prove to be ultra reliable at 140 they may look to increase that figure at some future point but I wouldn't count on it .
