The longer he's in power the more emboldened the racists will be.
I saw footage yesterday from one of the border camps. Some of them had been in there for 40 days with no access to cleaning facilities and are in the same clothes. One guard's excuse for keeping people that long without charge is that they're likely to come back if they're released.
The Border Patrol is simply not set up for anything beyond short-term confinement. They're stuck in the middle with this....people are heading north through Mexico from Central America. Mexico doesn't want them "back"...they have no legal standing there either - and if there's one thing Mexico hates, it's Central America....so they're happy to just funnel them through to the US & palm them off on us with the usual "Hey, it's not our problem".
I understand the humanitarian sentiment & all that, I really do...but if someone breaks into your home , you don't feed & cloth them, give them a bed, etc. any longer than you have to.
A Country is not home. It’s just a piece of land. I don’t see it any other way, I know others do but ultimately we don’t really own anything.
We can’t take it with us when we are gone.
I remember having this discussion after a few beers in Colmar last year. If you take away ownership of land from everyone you would sort a huge swathe of the World’s problems in a very short time.

I agree

There are no excuses for how these people are been treated, it's indefensible. And once you start making excuses for them you might as well be doing it yourself.

I disagree - I think there would be chaos
Imagine if you could only rent land and not own it? And every piece of land in the world cost the same to rent? And the money went into a global bank to help sort the World’s problems?
About 15% of the Land in the UK is unregistered because it has never changed hands. The majority of that belongs to the Church, aristocracy and the Crown. That says a lot about Britain.

That's utter bullsh#t. We're not the ones creating the problem, we're merely responding to it. Is it a perfect response?...probably not...as you're usually keen to point out, govts. are far from perfect.
There's not exactly an endless supply of money to support those in need who are supposed to be here, there's far less for those that aren't.
They cross the US/Mexico border illegally....they walk across what is essentially desert to do so. It's a LONG border....the practicalities of policing it effectively are a long shot...hence the planned border wall, hence the rush to get into the US before the wall is in full effect.
Most countries, as far as I'm aware, have the right to protect their sovereign territory. This right apparently does not extend to the U.S.
Also USA: "the 2018 defence budget will top out at $886 billion. That is more than double what it was in 2003"
Again also USA: "In 2015, The Washington Post discovered a report that showed how the DoD was wasting nearly $125 billion dollars due to bureaucratic waste"
And that's just what the USA loves more than anything....when other people, tells it how to solve problems created by...other people.
No-one is about to start slashing the defense budget to house illegals...that would make the problem worse, not better.
"Hey...Come to America--Everyone is welcome!! And now, for an unlimited time only...Free Room And Board!!!"
Unlikely.
Yeah fine, you keep missing the point. Nothing changes. A legal immigrant having a go at others trying to do the same. Like ex smokers with a holier than thou attitude.
