Pavement princess tonight for a 5 mile road run.

I'm leading the group run on Thursdays so may go and check a route out tomorrow, it's only 7 miles.

Bloody hell.. there's me feeling good to have done 3.4km today feeling a little under the weather from all of yesterday's running and uni work haha.

But yeah, Run 1 of Week 2 complete. Going to have a couple of days off and my next run will probably be in the woods again.

You should be feeling good mate, a run is a run.

Keep in mind targets and training scope. I'm training for a trail marathon in about 8 weeks. It's tough too, being trail it's "about" 26 miles and has about 1500 feet of elevation. I need to start pushing in the miles.

Oh I do still feel good about it internally, it just puts it into perspective.

This is the most 'long distance' type running I've ever done. 400m used to be too long for me.

You can actually find me on Powerof10, I think my highest UK ranking was 27th for 100m and I finished 12th at the English School Championships

It can all change in a blink Cav. I remember when Nutz started the running lark I was in full swing running up to 80-90km a week at 4.5 - 5 min/Km's. He said he didn't know how I did it.

Now the bugger is running trail marathons and I can't even run around the block! (lol)

So true. I ran fleet half marathon early last year in 1:43, now after a few months off I'm struggling to complete 9 miles.. hey ho, it will come back with training..

I did a 20-odd mile bicycle ride yesterday & it killed me. My lower back was knackered afterwards.
Which means I should probably have a go at it again today. We'll see.

Back to the gym. New year and new routines. Slowed controlled reps for muscle burn out.

How are you this morning, Kwacky? First gym sessions are never easy.

I've started week 3 of couch to 5k and it's a sizeable jump up in time per run. I'm now doing ( 90 run / 90 walk / 3mins run / 3mins walk ) x2. I haven't done the math but my actual distance covered is significantly less this way round than on the previous week. Also, my knees hurt so I need to find larger offroad areas near me in the evenings

I'm not too bad today thanks Cav. I ache and my arms feel really tired

I suspect tomorrow will be the killer.

3rd day back at it for me today.

With plans for my training to skyrocket this year combined with an awareness that if I go ballistic straight away I'm going to injure myself, I've been pushing but not too hard. Weights are pretty light but pushing out up to 20 reps means I can't go too heavy anyway.

Today's workout was a push session, and was the best session of the week so far, and I reckon 60% of the feel good factor was down to music choice.
Instead of listening to MTV on the gym TVs, or the ignorant prick who puts his portable speaker and death metal on (because **** everybody else in the gym, right?), I had my own personal gym music on which helps massively. (muscle)

My PT has said that we'll only go heavy once every 4 to 6 weeks. He reckons I'll see more progress with his new plan. He's a big believer in switching things around.

12 and a bit more trail run today.

Bloody tough in the wind and rain, plus freshly plouged fields and sticky mud.

Quite a bit of the route is on byways and would be ideal for a bit of green laning . I was thinking that on the east round.

6.5 mile recovery run, in the dark, on trails, with good mates.

Today for the first time in ages I feel good about running..... Good thing too as I have less then 8 weeks to a very hard trail marathon (sweat)
