I hope you spend the next 72 hours in an NBC suit for a pointless exercise.
I’ve been there before, but it was winter in NZ and the NBC gear made for a nice warm sleeping bag.

My legs are already killing me from this morning. I'm not looking forward to the next couple of weeks.

3k race with the lad yesterday. 19 minutes, I'm chuffed with the time and the focus he had on the running. He was 6 minutes faster than last year, and enjoyed it a lot more.

I then did the 10k which was a little less fun. Had a "slight" hangover from the stag do, and it's only my 3rd run since July. Needless to say it hurt, but came in at a respectable 56 mins. Last road race of the year, now to focus on trails and rebuild my fitness for next year.

7 mile trail run tonight, really enjoyed it. Think the running bug is back.

Did also get my number for Abingdon marathon, that I said I wasn't going to run as I was too out of shape... But..... Hummm... I've got 20 days ?!?!?!

A very poor leg session. I wasn't in the mood and I was tired.

My daughter came with me to use the pole to practice her pole dancing. Good to see her back up plan in place in case she **** up her exams.

I haven't been to the gym for months and have put on a stone. I stopped going because I kept getting throat infections, possibly from the air-con in the place.

Back at it tomorrow though, the doctor gave me a talking to about my weight gain and sugar levels (type 2 diabetic)... It's going to hurt...

My workmate out here is a keen RAF cyclist, and has been putting some serious miles in whilst he's been out here. Unfortunately, it's taken it's toll and he's a bit fed up with a permanently sore undercarriage, so he's had a few weeks of not doing anything and eating crap. But now he's moaning about getting fat, so he decided to go.e and hit the weights with me.

I've just started a new programme, so I'm going light. Today's exercises were done in 3 sets of 12.

We only did 6 exercises in total.

He's now struggling to walk! :D

Its weird because his legs are twice the size of mine, but I'm fine at the moment. I guess if you're not used to it your body will protest.

Neck and shoulder seem to be a lot better now so that's a plus.

back and shoulders tonight, I was hanging as I woke up early this morning, so pumped myself full of caffeine. Never a good move.

I broke him. (bandit)

We were doing sets of 6, so the weight went up a bit. He tried the same weights I was using, and tore a muscle in his quad!

Moving swiftly on...

The other day, despite all the advice about switching programs too frequently, I decided to switch programs. Reason being that if I progressed anymore in my current program I would have had to go onto 2 sessions a day. There are certain times I can get to the gym and it's not too busy, but if I went onto this twice-a-day program I would've had to endure going at peak times at least once-a-day.

A packed gym is like hell to me. I want to get in, use the kit I want to use and not have to make allowances or changes, take my time if I need to and not have to worry about anything like interacting with other human beings. I don't go to the gym to be sociable. In fact, I'm a grumpy judgemental b*****d most of the time, but that's what gets me through a workout! Anyway, I digress, massively...

My new routine is, on paper at least, ideal. I have 5 weeks left in Cyprus and this is a program that was demonstrated over 4 weeks. The main thrust of it lies in high reps and supersets. Here is what it wanted me to do today...
Day 1 – Full Body Push

Exercise Sets Reps
A1 Back Squat (Depth Focus) 5 15
A2 Backward Lunge 5 10
B1 Overhead Press 5 15
B2 Bench Press 5 10
C Banded Face Pull 5 15
D1 Leg Press 4 20
D2 Machine Horizontal Press 4 20
E Band Pull-Apart 4 20
F1 Heel Raise 4 20
F2 Seated Calf Raise 4 20
G1 Lateral Raise 4 20
G1 Tricep Extension 4 20
H Incline Treadmill Walk 10-15 min.

I don't think anyone would be surprised to see that I did not get everything done. I got maybe 2/3rds, and that's if I'm being generous!
I found a tub of this at work though...

Ooh, it's been a while since I subjected myself to this stuff, so maybe 2 scoops wasn't the best idea!!! :D

Did your skin crawl?

I don't talk to people in the gym. Go in, do your routine, get out. Resting is for the weak (lol)

The crash I get after using N.O Xplode is awful. I prefer the ON Gold Standard preworkout stuff. Gives a hit for a much longer period of time though not as intense but that's perfect for a massive workout

Got to the gym today and started with 2K on the rower, and then on to the stairmaster... Well F-me I used to trot out 1500 steps no problem, 2000 if I was feeling energetic.... 775 and I thought I was going to be sick with a heart rate nudging 180. I'm disappointed with that.

Might go back tomorrow and try again.

I went again today, same start as Monday with 2Km on the rower (37 seconds faster) and 1K steps on the stairmaster then some upper body stuff.
The amount of strength and endurance I have lost is embarrassing but I am determined.

My shoulder weakness was highlighted last night. It burned out very quickly. I did some light weight hi rep work with it to try and increase endurance but not damage it. It feels ok today so I must have done something right.

I've got a taekwondo grading coming up. I can't get one piece of the line work so I've managed to get them to change it 8)
