I'm sure bike park riding is similar to Motocross in that you feel absolutely battered by the end of the day but my golly it's good fun!

The qualifier feature for these genuine road gaps is a single bike length gap jump that's uphill :D

Went for a run with the club last night, first time in a few months.

My VO2 max is shitter than shit, and my legs feel like they've been run over by a train today.. time for some more training!

Got a Garmin Fenix 6 last break, so was keen to see actual data on my movements during a shift offshore. This was yesterday, which wasn't a flat out day, but steadily doing stuff with very little desk time. This is why I stay fit without much specific exercise when home (lol) Today is 3/4 through and busier and I've almost clocked yesterdays effort already.

11388 steps
81 flights of stairs (good portion of that is actually climbing ladders to higher process decks)
9.07 km

All in full PPE, overalls, hardhat, gloves, boots etc in 30-32 deg C

Interestingly, my 7 day average resting heart rate is 52 bpm but has been as low as 46. I had it as low as 42 when i was running heaps years back.

now you can see why I get through so much gin when I'm home after doing that 21 days straight and not being able to enjoy a drink at the end of the day (lol)

I can't bench. My shoulders won't allow it.

I don't go heavy these days. Instead I vary the set and rep range, do a mix of paused reps, pyramids and drop sets.

How long have you been benching for, Perks? And have you plateaued? If you have then switch to dumbbell press for a while. The other fantastic chest exercise is with a plate and you push your palms into it rather than grip it. The constant engagement is fantastic and you'll soon grow significant strength.

You probably lift 20-25% of your bench press doing this so it's really not that bad. Even starting off, 10kg is really tough. I ended up doing 2x15kg and that was really effing hard and a little bit worrying as you're then squeezing two plates together.
