Top Gear

Post by Kwacky »

I see they've announced the new presenters.

Looks like most boxes have been ticked - ginger, bloke, bird, white, Irish, black, Indian. No one with an obvious disability though

Never liked the show. I couldn't understand the cult (autocorrect?) following.

I have just seen a pic and heard about it on the radio...they have just ruined the show...it is now going to be a Fifth Gear I hate that program. I think they were right with Chris Evan's he's funny and knows about cars the rest are going to be too serious and make it boring...I'll watch one episode if it doesn't impress me (which I'm sure it won't) I won't bother with the rest

I didn't watch it then, and I doubt I'll watch it now. It's not something that's interesting to me.

But hopefully, the people who used to enjoy will be able to again... and if it was Clarkson that appealed, it's not like you can't get your dose of borderline racist, denim and tweed combo, dad-rock loving elsewhere anyway. You could follow him on twitter, for a start.

I agree. I've been an avid follower of Chris Harris for years, he's way better than Hammond, May and the other one tbh. Rory Reid is great too, his car reviews (especially the ftype convertible) is really funny.

The only fly in the ointment is Eddie Jordan, he's a knob IMO.

If it's more about the cars and bikes and less about the personalities it will already be better. The old three just twat about these days.

the old 3 lost it towards the end of the last few series ,the jokes and buffoonary were so predictable and stupid
I am going to watch it with an open mind but agree Eddie Jordan is a total knobber who wears to tight trousers and fecking stupid shirts
Harris will do a good job and Sabine gets my vote cause shes a horny German lady who is feckin fast in a car.If you read Harris blog hes recently got onto two wheels which has opened his eyes quite a bit

I suspect Jordan's involvement will be limited given his F1 work as well.

Let's hope. The BBC aren't covering f1 anymore and have ditched the contract early giving it to Channel 4. Not sure if he's involved with that channel.

Sadly your right these days. I used to enjoy it in the Mansell Senna era. Even when Hill won.

Beyond that. Oh dear.

I used to watch top gear for the general cocking about they did, because it was sort of funny and it stopped the Mrs putting on repeats of some wedding/baby/food program. I can't stand the Ginger twat so I won't bother watching any more.

As for f1, the last thing I remember was something about Schumacher breaking a leg or something..

Chris Harris is the only redeeming person in that line up but, in my opinion, he's a one-man-band - he can do the driving, the presenting, he's opinionated and can hold a rational argument. He is more interesting than everyone else put together

As long as the others continue then it might be a good show. He spoilt it by shouting ALL THE TIME!

He's also being questioned regarding historical sexual assault allegations...

Great on the radio, great on TFI. Hopeless at Top Gear.

It's semi-decent. Spawned a US version with Matt LeBlanc who is actually quite good...the guy has a genuine passion for cars. Who knew??

The UK version is OK if you like pre-planned buffoonery. I don't think it's that bad, and is the BBC's biggest earner by a mile.

The newer series push the envelope of mediocrity to new levels.
