The thread about twitter got me thinking about the way people are online.

I was once told by someone who met me for the first time after knowing each other online for several years, that he wasn't disappointed as, in his words, "you're as much a qunt in real life as you are online" . I found that flattering.

Dogbot mentioned those who beg for attention. That's fair enough but the ones who tickle me are the blokes who try to curry favour by being nice. "that's it hun, don't let them get to you" "you look ace" "you've got haters for a reason". Grow a pair you sad sacks.

So is your online persona a fair reflection of your true self?

This is who I am. I don't know how to be anyone else. I'm not a bad guy, I genuinely care about other human beings. I just swear a **** lot.

You should hear how my mates and I speak to each other.

I swear at work and I find it very hard not to swear at home.

I dont really know , I try to be honest and open in all my interactions online and in real life .

Im as lazy in real life as i am on the for.... Zzzzzzz

Kids, right? See, empty house bar me, usually. Swearing at the walls, doors, pots and pans etc etc is quite cathartic.

9 yr old son and 12 year old daughter.

A few weeks back I was playing Street Fighter with my lad when I blurted out "look at that fooking axekick". They both know not to repeat any swear words they hear, either from me or at school

I think I'm pretty true to myself online .This is my only online interaction bar an occasional visit to the Aussie Kwack site, dropped IG a couple of years back and never had FB or Twitter. Although on occasion like tonight I will check something out specific on one of those platforms, I just don't have an account.

I will admit I try not to let my mood darken my interactions thou'. I've had some pretty dark times over the years I've been chatting to you lot, including a substainal breakdown which is why I went MIA for a year or so. But when I come on here I prefer to indulge my cheekier cheerful self, still me, just not currently overly prominent.

You've had some shit to deal with. Feel free to have a vent on here is you want to. It's good for the soul.

I think my persona online is more reserved as I like to have face to face contact with people to understand them more and take a lot from body language, facial expression etc so it's more of an honest relationship on whatever level.

Saying that I've been around here long enough that many have met me or know me well enough online. I think anyone pretending too much would slip eventually.

It's good to just vent steam here occasionally or see what people think. Plus we are all bikers to one extent or another.

No. I swear far more in person too. The c-bomb is one of my favourite words. I try to curb it in written form though. It's never read in the same tone as its intended.

I'm pretty much the same online as anywhere else. In fact, I'm probably a bit nicer but only because if I make a crude joke or remark you can't see if I'm joking online. I don't like people getting the wrong end of the stick, which can happen often with my sense of humour combined with the written word.

Fwiw I don't think I'm much like my online persona.
Having said that, I'm not really like the persona that I project on a daily basis either.
I simply choose how I wish to present myself depending on the environment, company & circumstances that I am in.
Mostly I will present as a quiet & reserved. There are many who would therefore assume those to be my overriding character traits. Actually I default to that because it involves least effort (as I am lazy) and because it discourages interaction with others (as I can't be bothered with others generally).
Thankfully I generally keep "me" hidden quite deep, and well in check.

I'd say yes this is pretty much me online as I am in real life. However as I've got older I'm more quiter, I'm now starting to hate big groups. I don't tend to join into big group conversations in life and online - I say my bit then listen to everyone just like in threads really.

It's strange my whole attitude has completely changed I used to love big groups, talking sh%t and having plenty of banter and meeting new people. Now I'm different I generally don't go out that much, never go clubbing anymore, hate clubbing in fact when I used to love it, hate drinking when I used to love it and have a laugh, used to love making mischief and cheekiness now I'm more in the corner, or 1 to 1 basis. It's like the last few years have just had a massive influence on me.

I'm at my happiest when with my partner, riding, having sex and eating! Haha!!
