Bloody hell that's a big tank. £25 is about 3/4 of a tank in the PHEV..

Rode the SP for the first time in nearly 2.5 years. She maybe 15 year old but she is tight, taught and handles an absolute dream (y)

Not the quickest of accelerating bikes by a long margin, but deceptively quick for an old girl. 90 in top is a lazy 4500rpm so speed creeps up on you rather than hits you in the face (giggle)

Decided commuting was boring and the A34 needed waking up... Solved both issues by taking the KTM (devil)

It almost happened again.

Woman in a 4x4 off the slip road, straight over the thick solid white lines across lane 1 and into lane 2, where I was.

Thankfully I saw her and braked. As she didn't see me she had no idea why I was having a go at her. Stupid stupid cow.

Too many people driving are in their own little world.

Because cars are so cossetted these days they forget they have moving over a tonne of metal at speed.

I believe the CC of West Midlands Police said last week that people need to have more fear of dread about their actions and responsibilities.

485 miles wales and back.

Cracking time although we did ride a fair few dual carriage ways prob around 80 miles or so whilst in wales which wasn't the greatest but had to be done to get to places. The rest were lovely roads. Some weren't about pace (40MPH tops) but the views were epic. Then there were some where it was all about top end, coh coh coh may of been seen on the Speedo whilst actually braking (on a private road of course).

There was 4 of us who went and one of the group is a lorry driver so knows literally everywhere! He recalled going to a cafe called the Owls Nest down the A4069 (lovely bit of road for scenery) so we popped by and had our first bite to eat. We were admittedly starving by then. So i had to had a big sausage baguette and a slice of lemon drizzle cake. As we were outside enjoying the sunshine there was a Harley rider who pulled in. She managed to drop her bike in the car park but she was with people and they helped her pick it up. Didn't lool like there was much damage to be honest.

Wasn't all that busy at the cafe but we bumped into a couple of riders who said theirs a motorcycle meet of some kind pretty close and everyone is there because they spent the night there (without a tent and slept in their leathers on the grass next to their bikes!!) So that's how they know!

So then we cracked on and were were heading for Devils Bridge. There was a mixture of lovely A roads to niggly little roads. Then onto Elan Valley and we had an ice cream by the dam.0

But through this time my soon to be BiL dropped his bike. He's a pretty good rider actually but he was trying to turn around on a hill, on a tight bit of Welsh road and lost his footing, bike is pretty heavy and slam. He tried to fight it but couldn't help it. We were powerless to help as he was 500 or 600 meters away but he managed to pick it up even whilst on a hill and ride it back down. What annoyed us was a car driver just drove right on past without saying a word. Wasn't even like he didn't notice him because the car driver had to mount the dirt to get past and actually drive around him. Selfish pr!(k. BiL is fine and bike is built amazingly strong. If that was mine I'm sure I would of damaged fairing and my clutch cover, slip on exhaust, broken my pegs and brake lever etc etc. A few scratches on the cover, broken wing mirror and off he went! They don't build bikes like they used to 20 years ago!!

By this point we were trying to find a way home. It was prox 5pm so we had out day out by then and our friend was looking at Google maps and noticed there was a reservoir on the way back through the Brecons. Well it would be rude not too I guess. Roads weren't that great but on parts of it still saw a quick pace, views would be a lot better if they cut down the trees around the reservoir and let us have our pictures. Road could be better in places. Don't think we could go again to that place in all honesty. After this we cracked on out of Wales onto the A40 then came the boring bit Dual carriageways and the M4 to finish it off.

We were all hungry so popped by Harvester and we all demolished massive meals!

Got home around 11ish after being up at 0430hrs for a 6am meet!

Too long really but was one to remember!

I should of really taken a picture of how my visor was when I got home. Looks like i had used it as a fly swatter all day! But the funny thing was I had cleaned my visor a whole heap of times!! ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Almost 500 miles!! That's a long day in a car, never mind on a bike. Cool write-up.

Great brief on the day, and it seems you proof read it (lol)

Great idea to do a shake down with all the kit you intend to take. Makes complete sense but something I’ve always winged and had to deal with the unknown dramas. Full credit on the distance too, that’s a fair haul in the saddle.

Today I cleaned the bobbins on the front discs, some say it's a pointless exercise but some of them were stiff and a fair amount of crap washed out of those. On my next ride I will see if the brake vibration at speed is any better or if I need to delve further in to things, some Superduke 1290's didn't have the brake mounting faces on the front wheel machined properly flat and parallel from the factory so even spending a fortune on new discs possibly won't cure this...

It will be one for the dealer at service time, hopefully KTM will do a good will gesture if that's the case.

Do you mean these? I try to give them a spray with brake cleaner when I do a clean. Personally think its good practice so it doesn't get crap built up in there Image
