Took the KTM back in to get it's new rear tyre. It's really odd switching bikes, and they are like chalk and cheese....

MOT time for the KTM tomorrow, fingers crossed. The only thing I can find that isn't working is the headlight flasher.

You know, when you're new to bikes, and new to the internet, advice like "clean the discs with WD40" can sound perfectly legit to some people. Allegedly.

(shake) No way...

:? Everyone knows that ACF50 is far more suitable for protecting discs. (nod)

Reamed out my left hand bar on the GB and fitted one off the mirrors. Had to get my daughter to netball practice so the right hand side will be tomorrow’s job

Nearly froze on the ride in. So glad I got the vfr fur commuting, the KTM is fun but it seriously lacks any kind of protection from the cold (especially at -1 on the motorway)

Rookie mistake. My dealer gave me some sound advice re. internet jokers, etc.
It wasn't very funny at the time...I got to the end of my street on a "test run" and NO BRAKES - straight out into traffic. (facepalm)

Big "shout out" to the van driver who was paying attention & didn't splatter me to Kingdom Come.

More fun on the way back. MOT passed with no advisories.

Had to fill up with fuel on the way back though, so about 100 miles per tank for the KTM and 175+ for the vfr. So glad I got the vfr fur commuting, I blame the quick shifter on the ktm for the poor economy...

Washed both bikes, cleaned and lubed the chain on the ktm as it was minging and have the vfr is weekly check over.

All good but I do need to top up the oil on the ktm before I take it out again.

Went out on a 90 mile blast from approx 1030AM until 430PM - stopped in Abingdon Blade to take a lool at bikes then stopped off at H Cafe, we were clesrly longer in these places than expected!

Also checked my oil and somewhere it's gone from pretty decent level to over full. Literally have no idea how it's risen past the sight glass!

Absolutely love being back out on the bike.

Sometime this week ill be scrubbing my discs and then fitting my new pads ready for next weekend

Watch out for that Rossgo, rising engine oil normally means fuel getting into the sump, diluting the oil and making the oil level rise. You might have a dripping injector allowing fuel to run into a cylinder via an open valve and on down to the sump.

Or you’ve overfilled it with oil and not noticed.

was it on level ground? was it on the sidestand ? had you just been riding it ? all these can give an inaccurate reading .

Did you look at the sightglass level when the engine was still hot & had recently been run.
As said, too much oil can sometimes actually be worse than too little from an engine failure perspective.

It's strange when I filled it, it was pretty good. I even ran it to temp to see where it was levelling out. Then yesterday morning just wanted to check it and it was over the sight glass.

I hope it's not an injector jeez that would be bad.

Maybe I'll need to get in there with a little pipe to suck some of it out.

Put a screwdriver or something similar in the fill hole and get some oil on it, then smell it, if you’re getting fuel dilution you should find a heavy petrol odour from the oil. Maybe compare it to fresh oil if you’ve got any left? HTH.
