Fitted the Hyperpro steering damper.

Since the bike is still on the Skylift, i can feel the difference with no weight on the steering. A lot of adjust-ability to it.

I was going to book the Versys in with All Year Biker, but the guy in Hinckley has had to give it up due to work.

Bugger. He did a really good job.

Replacing the coolant hoses but some are very awkward to get to.

Fairings all off, tank off, air box off, radiators off and finally got access to some very short hoses that feed the thermostat.

Part of the reason I haven't done them on my bike - one very awkward hose in amongst the engine

Yeah 2 really awkard hoses Cav that required alot of stripping down. I thought about leaving them as was, but sods law says they are the 2 which would fail if I didn't replace them(blush)

10% of the reason for swapping is because Silicone Hoses benefit from superior flexibility compared to normal rubber ones. Also they maintain this flexibility over their lifespan which reduces the risk that the hoses will split, harden, or become dry rotted.

90% Is,,,,, "Techno-Bling" ;)

I've looked at them but they are a lot of money for no immediate benefit.

Looks like your question has been answered already by both StMarks and Duke and both make good points.

All I can add is the reason I did it was the bike is 15 years old. With rubber hoses being made from perishable material that deteriorate with age, IMO it was good prevent maintenance to change them out before they did, MAYBE become an issue and fail whilst out riding.

It probalby took about 2 hours I reckon but the main issue is the awkward access to some hoses especially on a vtwin. The 3 hoses in the attached photo are in the V between the cylinders beneath the tank, airbox and throttle bodies so would most likely be easy access on an il4.

The price of one (or maybe two) OEM hoses was the same as the entire Samco kit for my Daytona. Color options like "camouflage" are still a bit of a mystery to me, though.

The hoses are £175 for my 748. They are really nice looking bling bits and I do understand its preventative.

I have not entirely dismissed it especially as the bike is in bits with no coolant currently and they are probably 20 years old.

Been working at home today and the sun came out and its relatively mild so it would have been rude not to take the Multi out. (devil)

Rubber perishing is why I always put braided hoses on my bikes

Regarding the coolant pipes. Ahh right I see. I've obviously seen them on bikes and cars but never really looled into it. Thanks for the explanation StMarks and Blade. All makes a lot of sense. Defo looks bling I'm liking the look of it

@Blade those 3 pipes look incredibly fiddly, but looks crazy good. I still.need to see this bike lol

I put the battery on charge again... paranoid about getting to Portugal and the bike not starting.

The excitement is starting to subside and be replaced with nerves - nearly 2.5 years since I last rode a bike
