Signed up for this today...

I've also booked the bike in for some new boots and an MOT on Friday, so it'll be ready to take out to a 5000-strong rideout!!!

I was umm-ing and ah-ing about it for the last couple of weeks, but we decided to ask my daughter if she wanted to come with me. A few years ago she saw a small gathering of bikes turn up at Marham and decided she wanted to go on the back asap. We deemed she was too young just then but I was quite excited about her wanting to do it.

Fast forward to last year and she'd gone off the idea completely. I was disappointed but wasn't going to force the issue.

Now it seems like she's u-turned again, so not only will Sunday be my first rideout of the year, it will be Holly's first time as a pillion too.

I'm pretty excited.

*puts thoughts of going out on new tyres, not having ridden for months, with my 12 year old daughter on the back firmly to a darkened corner of my mind!!!

The event isn't my cup of tea, but you get to spend biking time with your daughter, and that's precious.

I know what you mean mate, it'll be a 23 mile trip at a slow pace with thousands of other bikes, hardly a Tankslap special!

But as you say, it's time I get to spend with Holly and the bike. She's been feeling a bit low recently and I'm hoping that this, among other things, will bring her back up again.

And it's a good fundraiser for a worthwhile charity as well.

I actually really REALLY enjoyed my ride to work this morning, I decided to make an actual point of not going into A mode as it really is a handful and too snatchy and upsets the bike mid corner getting back on the gas and my chicken strips seemed to have got bigger since I started using it, so stuck in standard and loved it! its actually rideable, no chicken strips left already (although the rear is so square it felt like dropping off a cliff, but that's being swapped Friday or Saturday) and in terms of poke it means I just rag it harder to get the same results so actually much more fun! I even found myself having a bit of 1 wheel action on purpose which I hadn't really attempted since my accident so shows how comfortable I felt this morning.

Dropped mine off for a service, nice hour ride to the dealer. Picked up the loan bike and blasted down to Basingstoke.

Was a bit disappointed when I couldn't have the 1290as they had a demo today, but I did get something that really surprised me. Pics and a writeup later.
