Oh okay.. being on the S3 makes it a fairer comparison.

Most often, when people have made the switch from Pirelli to Dunlop the problem lies in the tyre pressures. The carcass is mega stiff on rear Dunlops and so needs lower pressure to generate the same contact patch > friction > heat > grip. Incorrect pressures also increase tyre wear which may explain yours - but it could also be your right hand? ;)

Target Operating Pressure for the Dunlops are 2.2-2.5bar (front) and 1.8-2.4bar (rear). Give those a go and see if it transforms your opinion. I would go to the middle-upper end of those for road use personally.

My mate couldn't fault them, he only felt them slip when he took the wrong line into a hairpin in a damp session and the bike did a 360.

track tyres dont get anywhere near warm enough on the road ,supercorsa is a track tyre isnt it ?
I changed a few furry bolts on mine today for titanium and lubed the chain ready for the weekend

You won't (read shouldn't) get them track hot on the road but you'll get them nice and warm. They're still grippier than an ordinary sport tyre on the road. It's actually the reason I don't like them as I think I've explained before.

Oooh titanium tastiness!

Yeah Im pretty good with tyre pressures tbh, Cav. I always check them and adjust before every ride. The Dunlop rep said 2.5 / 2.5 on the road and use the chart for track pressures.

I started 2.5/ 2.5 and get them plenty hot so I lowered them to 2.3 / 2.1 which is what I run the supercorsa on the 1299 on the road and they have no issues. Only difference is the superocrsa is a 200/55 and the TT is a 190/55 so slightly more contact patch on the Supercorsa.

No problems with the front but might try lowering the rear further to get more contact patch but for road riding that shouldn't really be needed so cautious of going to low.

I have Supercorsa SP on the Ducati and there a full on road tyre.

The SC range are the track tyre and as such have not been homologated for road use.

The TT isn't a track tyre Perks. I'm not that quick tbh so I explained that to the Dunlop rep and he recommended the TT as its a fast road tyre with Track Technology (TT) for the odd track day without warmers. Hence why I bought them, as I thought they sound ideal for my pace which I was completely honest with the rep about.

I really like the Michelin Power Rs on my bike but they are bloody expensive

You kind of have to ignore tyre sizes. For example, a 180/60 Supercorsa measures 196mm across whereas a 190/55 measures 193mm across.

You can definitely run a lower pressure if you've matched what you ran on the Supercorsa. I'd drop another 0.2 and see how that feels. It'll feel like a hot knife through butter when you get those pressures right

Cheers for the suggestions Cav.

TBH they have only slid once at full lean so maybe a one off, i was more concerned with the rapid wear on the road, worse than supercorsa's.

It may be the bike tbh as never ridden a upright naked before and always been on sportsbikes, so perhaps I need to adapt. Its weird as although I don't ride duck footed and the pegs are sportsbike high, I keep touching my boot down and never get that on sportsbikes.

Thinking about selling the GB... I still like it, and it was a bike I always wanted to own for sentimental reasons, but it's attraction has worn a bit thin now.

Still want a cafe style bike, so seriously thinking of getting a thruxton 900, another bike I've always liked, and it will probably give me everything I like about the GB with a bit more poke.

This one is near me, 2012, 15,000 kms and the GB would cover half the purchase

Quick blast out on the Ducati.

Great when the roads are clear but there seem to be more Sunday drivers than ever with the lockdown.

cannock Chase is chiocker with cars. there isn't a spare spot anywhere to park and the cars are over flowing onto the road.

Also saw bikes riding in groups, which we have been advised not to do, and the one cafe open was teeming with parked bikes. (facepalm)
