Got the rear wheel off the AT and swapped the sprocket. I need to get some shiny nuts to go with it.

As she's been a bit neglected of late being sat in a workshop gathering dust and then commuted through some really crap weather I treated her to a decent wash.

As I'm off most of this week I'm also going to degrease the wheels, swing arm, and other greasy bits and then give her a good misting of ACF50 .Image

New tyre on. That rear wheel is heavy. Fitting it back on wasn't the easiest.

Took the ST to JHP to have a look at a Scrambler Desert Sled they have in.

As a twisty back roads bike, the ST RS is impossible to beat. It is so lithe and agile.

I didn't get chance to swap the rear shock over on the Versys so I took the AT into work this morning. Wet roads, new rear and mismatched tyres. Nice combination.

Must confess i don't know a lot about the dual purpose tyres.

I would like a proper dual purpose bike and might have a look at it next year at some point.

They're supposed to be 60/40 street/off road. The reviews I've read say they're pretty much like sports touring tyres for the road. They'll cope with dusty tracks and gravel but are crap in mud.

As much as I would love to take the AT off road I don't want to do it on my own. There are some great farm roads near me though, so if you ever get a bike like that give me a shout.

I would think most of the tyres like this are fine for gravel and dirt but not mud.

TBH mud doesn't have a lot of appeal to me but i look at some of the videos of riders on the fire roads and tracks around Wales and Shropshire and would love to try it myself. I have read a few reports though that say its not something to do by yourself, at least to start with.

I would image for personal safety it makes sense to go in a pair or group of riders when your in remote locations in case of an incident.
