A mate I used to work with on the base in my aircraft days try to catch up for rides when we can, but they have generally been short 1 hr pub runs and we’ve only managed a few. So this time we got organised and he took a day off work and we did a decent loop during the day.

He’s got an African Twin with dual purpose tyres, still goes well on the road. I took out the Multi.

Started out at 8am and headed west.. 7-8 degs. That’s f**king cold here 😂 the new Five winter gloves and heated bars worked well. Did just under 300km over 5 hrs with a coffee/sausage roll pit stop, a lunch stop and a finish off at the Cider brewery for a pint.

Was good to be out with company on the bike. Been a fair while.

The blight on the day was a bloody Ferrari driver. We were cutting cross country on a quiet country back road, quite windy and undulating. I was in the lead and I encountered a sports car group coming the other way. Porches, Lambo’s and Ferraris mainly. The first part of the group had some pace but being pretty sensible. Then just as I was dropping into dip in the road I saw a van being over taken by a Ferrari dropping into another dip separated from me by a crest between us. I barely saw him move out before he disappeared from sight. It instantly became apparent it was likely I would meet him head on at the top of the crest. So I braked hard and pulled to the left. Sure enough he hit the top of the crest (where I had arrived slow and well to the left) completely on my side of the road, face full of shock when he saw me. I was close enough to give him the finger and my hand be about a metre from his face. Shudder to think what would have happened had I not caught that glimpse of him overtaking. F**king idiot.

Yesterday I decided to take a run abroad and head into Wales... I have to say come last knockings late afternoon it is a joy to ride these roads, so much less traffic. However back into England, not only do we have a million new signs up saying 20 MPH, you are now getting the rolling road police, (other road users) who seem to brake really hard for the 20's and 30's then 2 mins in get board of driving at this speed and go back to their average speed again !!! Anyway, forget all that it was good to get out on a long run. Totally knackered, more from having to concentrate on the Muppets around me more than ever. A few snaps. A couple as it turns out are from 2019 !!! when I was last on that route.

Yesterday, but I fixed it. I've been putting it off as I thought it might be the stator, b@stard of a job on the ZX6 because of the way they run the cables. Fairing off, tank off, airbox off etc. and I hate taking the front fairing off this bike.

Anyway, I took a punt and just replaced the rectifier and battery and hey presto 14.30v charging. Happy days.

Just need to MOT and TAX it now, ready for the winter!

Was supposed to be starting the new job today, but no laptop as yet... so went out on the bike instead Image

The ride down was pretty good, loads of tight twisty lanes.. the ride back was traffic, traffic, and suicidal kamakazi school run mums on the back roads.. still all good fun.ImageImageImage

Spent a couple of hours on the MV, disturbing the people of Warwickshire.

It's such a shame I have to use that bike on British roads, they're fecking awful.

Just got back from 4 days around the Rutland area, one of which was with an MCN journalist on part of the MCN250 test track (road). Fantastic roads, really wasn't expecting them to be that good. I knew the Melton to Market Harborough road was good, but the other back roads he took us on were absolutely amazing.

I pinched the map if anyone fancies trying it.

MCN.jpeg

The only downside is I had a wardrobe failure (zip) and two blown fork seals!

So after 16 years of service, my Triumph leathers now reside in Leicester J&S changing rooms. RIP

I swapped them, plus a few quid for a mid-level Alpinestars two-piece, Missile V2 or something. Quite pleased with them and nice to have a change after 16 years.

Been out for a bimble with the missus as she’s running her bike in. Ended up over Tenbury Wells and Ludlow. Such a nice part of the world.

Started raining 5 mins before we got back, quickly shoved them away and the heavens opened proper, so good timing.

Good. It will be better when it is run in as she can’t rev it hard for overtakes but she’s fine on it. She didn’t ride for 18 months so it’s steady but the run in limits help.

It’s a great bike but she won’t let me ride it yet 🤭

I took the sx out for a few hours.

It was nice to get out but I think I'm going to start doing my rides in the middle of the night when there's no one around.

I popped out for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon. I now hunt out smaller back roads to get away from the traffic.

I wasn't going to upgrade the exhaust on the speed as there aren't too many options, and they're all pretty pricey. The only one I really liked was the prorace tips as the clean up the rear nicely, but they're £120+ for 2 short bus of tubing..

Now, when I found the same thing on AliExpress for £60 it was hard to refuse.

Tested on a phone app db meter and there is no real increase, but will be interesting to see how loud they are on the road.ImageImage

Well, they look awesome compared to the stock "dustbin" imho D6Nutz, if their performance is to your liking that's a bargain imho.
