Some companies are refunding all (i.e. TUI) even though they are members of the same group (forgive my terminology at the moment). If one does it that's enough to argue your case for another to do it. Focused Events haven't been refunding people either but one person successfully got theirs back and now they're issuing refunds to all.

I think you should just sit tight for a bit though.

I've got my honeymoon toward the end of June and I'm just hanging tight to see what happens for that. I think I'm more prepared for it to not go ahead than for it to actually happen. Which reminds me - stop eating so much sh!t and do some exercise, Cav!!

How many passengers are on one of those things you fly in??
It's normally only an hour and 10 mins, but that is when we fly from Dili in Timor Leste (which we fly to commercially from Darwin) but for obvious reasons atm going through a 3rd world country isn't conjunctive to maintaining our quarantine conditions.

We fly in an Airbus H175 which has capacity for 16 plus 2 crew. But due to the fuel load we have to carry for the long flight we are limited to 10 and all jammed up in the first 3 rows for mass balance requirements.

It seemed like a short trip for me, I started reading my book and feel asleep about 20 mins in and woke up when they announced the descent approach about 15 mins out (lol)

Flying over open water for that length of time in a helicopter doesn't appeal to many of the guys tbh, but because of my aircraft trade background I have plenty of faith in our machines and worrying about it only makes the trip worse. If we go into the drink, we have good training to have the best chance of survival. So honestly, I get more anxiety travelling on public transport and trying to work out which stops and change overs I have to do (lol)

That really doesn't look like it would hold 18 people.

Really thats not good to hear. I have jet2 flights but can't get through on the phone.

My understanding is we are entitled to a full refund as they have cancelled not us.

The bit which is exceptional circumstances is claiming for compensation

I really hope blade is right on this. We've got a holiday booked for may half term, paid the final balance days before ask this crap kicked off. Was looking at travel insurance, but I guess it's going to be a bit tricky to come by now!

Nutz I'm not sure I'm right on this but I think sometimes these companies try there luck at wriggling out anyway they can.

At the end of the day we have paid for goods we haven't received, so we should be entitled to a full refund and I believe that's our rights. Fingers crossed anyway

Maybe Perkles or Kwacky will know more.

@Nutz Regards insurance my company said if the FCO advise against travel to the area they would pay out.

I think many are using force majeure to avoid paying refunds.

Paying refunds probably means many companies won't be there when this is over.

We have two lots of flights booked for the summer but i think its unlikely they will happen. And in any case would any of us particularly want to get on an aircraft full of people until there is more understanding of the virus?

There's no set rule. It depends on the terms and conditions of your insurance. Each policy is different.

Can they do that Duke???

Is there definition of what counts as force majeure?

Force majeure is generally intended to include occurrences beyond the reasonable control of a party

In our circumstance, we would be happy to accept a credit for replacement flights TBH.

We are fortunatate that we have an annual travel policy.

I've been doing it for a few years now as we have been doing a few City breaks. Its not expensive and we renewed it back in February before all this kicked off. Some bank accounts include travel insurance as a freebie.

Force Majeure definition "unforeseeable circumstances that prevent someone from fulfilling a contract."

I only booked flights in January. You could argue CV19 was foreseeable at that time.

I paid on my Amex and have an annual travel policy so hopefully one way or another I'm not out of pocket.

I paid on the debit card and have no insurance.

Hopefully can transfer the whole booking to later in the year, or next year.

I'm sure they will let you transfer Nutz.

If you do want the refund I would still try as you never know (y)
