Was tough getting back out after being isolated so long , didn't sleep well , dodgy guts etc this morning , I persevered and was Ok by 10 ish , should hopefully be easier tomorrow when I'm back to the same circuit .
Last nights shift marked the last day of payback I owed to the company for going home during the bush fires. So tonight’s shift and the overnight in Darwin tomorrow is paid overtime
Glad I got that monkey off my back.

I went with Sergio to look at an Alfa Romeo Brera 2.2, unfortunately it was being Italian and showing several faults on the dash related to the ABS system and the windows did their own thing. When we started it up the drivers window wound half way down, when I pulled the switch up it went the rest of the way down. When I did get it to wind up it didn't sit in it's seal properly and it took us 5 attempts to get the boot open.
We had called ahead and when we arrived the car had a battery charger on it, nice, we thought then I touched the engine and it was HOT... I wanted to see a cold start on a car of that type and age. The clutch was rattling too so probably thrashed to death.
We moved on to another a few miles away, this one has a couple of blemishes and scratches, but very little rust and most importantly fully functional electrics... I did embarrass myself by dropping the oil filler cap down the back of the engine, it was stuck, until it wasn't... The mechanic on site was amused and I helped to push it on to the lift and recovered it from under the gearbox while my friend had a good look underneath, it's not been driven much in winter at all.
After a test drive and a bit of Italian haggling my friend Sergio now owns a Brera, he got a service, MOT, new battery and a 3 month warranty with £700 off the asking price... And I got a need for an Alfa, I really like the interior.
First day home and I’m struggling the urge to try and get all the things done today. Still wiped out from night shift so forcing myself to just knock off a few small jobs and a trip to do groceries and pick ups at the PO.
It’s 9am and I’ve already spend an hour out helping the neighbour look for their little Jack Russell that has escaped. Still no sign unfortunately.
Get the kids back tomorrow and will be in full dad swing again.

It's the NA 2.2 GM engine seen in the later Vectras, I think it's about 180bhp so not a slow car but not the fastest, he just loves the look of them and has a more sensible car for day to day.
I'm seriously considering a Giulietta 1.4, 170bhp should be plenty, I still need to hold my horses until I know how this engineering job pans out, it comes with a company car so replacing the C1 now could be a huge mistake.
