Personally I would leave it alone and keep the saved money for msg bike purchase and new insurance etc. But I suppose it's all a matter of whether it's money you can afford to put into a bike that will only be used for track.

I don't know why he hasnt bought one yet, Ive sent him about 6 options all of mint, low mile bargains from his short list of models

There's just to much choice or to little i don't know which :-(

Re the 1000. I'd also say get rid. Even if you managed to turn it into a cheap track bike, I bet you'd have a hard time ever really trusting it again after a crash like that! You just don't need those nagging what if's in the back of your mind.

Cheers guys decided to let them take the bike it was too much money to take a risk on and I could not sell it not knowing it was a 100% straight.

Great minds think a like Monty I sent him that last Friday along with a mega bargain 675 and 848.

Some good deals about at the moment considering its peak biking season.
