panning yes , high speed shutter - not me , shot at 1/160 and 1/125 , if you want to see spokes and holes in brake discs and links in the chain you need a different photographer , I see so many shots at high shutter speeds from other photographers that are supposed to be professionals and they just look static , I take a LOT of shots , you guys only see what I consider worthy of publication and as I have got better my standards have got higher , I would rather take a hundred shots and get 1 that conveys the sense of movement and speed than take 20 at high shutter speeds that are all perfect but static , its a lot of work in the processing , which is why a lot of "pro's" don't or won't do it , but imo its totally worth it .

NOT MINE

I know the top picture is a bit smaller but hopefully you can see what mean , in the top pic he is running on slicks in mine he has treaded tyres as its superstock race.

I gathered you were panning from the background but just assumed it was still at a faster shutter than 1/125!!! Makes them even more amazing, especially at the speeds they travel.

And absolutely, the deep of field you use along with the panning technique produces a awesome results compared to the high shutter speed flat look.

I prefer to get a sense of speed from the shots.

Jack, your skills have really come on, it's no wonder you're getting the recognition you deserve.

I often think if i had a better camera I'd take better shots.
I wouldn't though.
I need to practice more.
Seeing shots like this from yourself and some of the other slappers makes me insanely jealous of some of the talent on display!

This is apparently what Guy Martin will be riding tomorrow , the yellow number board denotes that its only eligible for the Senior TT , I was reliably informed that its 230+bhp

One of the Marines Road Race team came over on wednesday night , he bought a pretty good 400mm lens with him and a brand new camera the same as mine - for me to use today in the Senior TT . I cannot believe these guys they really are something special , I am so so lucky to be involved with them .
I am having trouble putting into words what I am feeling , proud and honoured and grateful dont really cut it right now .

No one minds supporting talent Jack, so I'm not surprised someone has gone out of their way for you.

And they probably want you get get decent shots of them too (nod)

There's so many tradesman and so called professionals these days that do a half arse job, it's why I tend to do all my own work to a point. By if I find a tradie that does a good honest job, I will tell everyone that will listen about them.

I'd be stoked for Jack to do track day photos, knowing my form he'd get some good action/crash shots!

Fabulous shots Jack. Clearly very late to this thread but I can see what you mean by 'static' shots. Love how you have captured the speed of these amazing machines with yours.

Can't believe that fella who smashed your lense. Bloody hell some people just don't have a clue do they. Wise words by Daytona Andy though hope you did manage to write that email to insurance. Always best to crack on with it straight away...we all know they are slimey barstards!! Hope you be had a great TT week!

DISASTER - went out to Greeba Castle for the lightweight and senior races , took the kit I'd been lent , the lens wasn't calibrated properly so got little or nothing photo wise , very slight but noticeable softness and blur I'll see if I can salvage some but not up to my usual standards , bit gutted but learnt a valuable lesson - always take the spare lens , still enjoyed the racing , had a great vantage point too and could move between spots as there were hardly any other people there - more marshalls than spectators , one of the marshalls went and got us some ice creams during the break for the red flag , also let us up on the TV scaffold as the TV cameras weren't there.

I must have still been a bit pissed this morning , results not as bad as I feared , I think it was because I was shooting at too low a shutter speed on some of them - short circuit mentality - need to adjust a bit for the mental speeds here .
