Journalists Killed in France
Gunmen have gone into the offices of a French magazine which dared to criticise Islam and the prophet Mohammed.
10 or 11 killed.
I can see parts of Europe erupting into racial riots soon.

Re: Journalists Killed in France
This is bad, but on the other hand 132 Londoners died in traffic accidents and 584,000 people died of Malaria in 2013 alone. Did any of that make the news or inspire anyone to do anything, good or bad?
I'm getting so fecking tired of this right wing reactionary xenophobic crap. No doubt the French far right will be out on the streets tonight

Re: Journalists Killed in France
Cars are improved all the time. Laws are brought in to make people wear seatbelts, to change the design, speed bumps introduced, drink driving clamped down on etc
But they don't compare.
Seeing an injured policeman on the ground, surrundering and pleading for his life, only for the gunman to walk up to him and shoot him in the head, all over a cartoon deserves question in my opinion.
Or do you suggest we shrug it off because people get killed by hail stones?

Re: Journalists Killed in France
No of course not but it shouldn't be driving the world stage as much as it is, there are many other much more important things. Terrorism and how we've reacted to it has been massively disproportionate ever since 911

Re: Journalists Killed in France
I'm with you on that one. Saudis organise a massive attack on American soil so the West invades Iraq and then Afghan. The power vacuum created in the middle east once Saddam has gone allows the Saudi funded Islamic extremists, who where being kept in check, to hook up with Al Qaeada (backed by the CIA to fight Russia) who in turn split and become ISIS. In the meantime Israel builds a massive wall to herd non-Jews into then bombs them because, you know, terrorists and that.
We can't afford to fund the NHS, put police on the streets or give our kids text books, but we can bomb someone in the desert to keep us safe. Which we're not because they are no police here to deal with crimes (unless you're being rude on Twitter, tehn expect a knock on the door).
The problem with all of this is that people like to react. They don't look at the arguments, do some research, they knee jerk. It plays in Le Pen's hands and she already had a decent following.

Re: Journalists Killed in France
One man being assassinated in summer of 1914 plunged the world into war.
I agree that things will only get worse and tensions rise. A solution is needed but hard to come buy.

Joking aside I agree with your sentiment. Wars have been started over less.

Appalling. It will harden the french. They are already terrified of islamification..
It cannot be allowed to stand unpunished however I'm sure the perpetrators don't care about their own lives. I'm not sure how you fight fanatics tbh..

Alas I suspect it will provide the powers that be, the fuel to increase security and restrict civil liberties. They are protecting us, no really they are.

Re: Journalists Killed in France
The worst thing we can do is fight fire with fire though, IMHO.
Its precisely what they want, a religious war and in any case who exactly do you fight?
