Found one of my Dad's dated June 1972 just before I was born and one of mine dated June 1992 exactly twenty years later.

Do you know that I'm qualified by the State Of California to install tile, marble, mastic (type of concrete mix)....vinyl, VCT, carpet, etc....you name it. But apart from carpet I don't have much of a clue....some would say including carpet.

And believe me.....I studied for this stuff, and took my exams etc......Kwacky would be proud that I aced the legal!!.....the C-15 part (flooring) was about the simplest and stupidest exam I've ever done.
BUT....as I mentioned on another recent thread.....my license puts me at the head of my field, whether I belong there or not.

Do you not have to have a qualified sparks to sign off the work?

It's fine, it's all been signed off by someone who is qualified. Earths are the responsibility of the householder here so we've got a few earthing points buried around the house. The standards are much higher here and much more stringent.

I would want them checked anyway, but I was tutored by a trained french sparky who then checked them over when I'd finished them and got the authorities in to sign them off.

You can't live or sell a house here without a certificate. As we didn't have electric even to the site, the electricity company when running the cables down the road and installing a meter were even more stringent and tested them themselves afterwards. The neutral and live are switched here too so it's very safe and all cables in front and behind the walls are in waterproof single piece flexible trunking. No irritating fuses in plugs too - which is great.

Degree of life mate worth every penny and we all know shagging and drinking are bloody expensive pass times especially the shagging, haha.

Another subscriber to D6's pov, I've met some utter planks that knew nothing about electrics, electronics, fluidics and mechanics and yet had all the qualifications going in our area of expertise, it's a joke tbh. I've taught so called qualified electricians that couldn't tell me anything about electricity - not even the difference between volts and amps. That's scary.

All I know about electrickery is the black man's magic flows down the pipes and sparky bits come out the other end. If you want more sparks or bigger currants I think you rub the working end differently, I think thats it anyway but not my thing tbh even though I clearly know sh1t loads on the subject
