BMW Motorrad UK has announced the pricing and availability for their all new 2015 S 1000 RR superbike. Available in dealerships from February 7th next year, prices for the S 1000 RR will start at £13,700 OTR.

Complete with semi-active suspension and the most advanced traction control BMW has ever produced, the 2015 S 1000 RR offers more technology and performance enhancing aids than the now discontinued, £20,000 BMW HP4. As standard, the S 1000 RR features BMW’s switchable race ABS, automatic stability control and three riding modes (rain, sport & race).

In addition to the standard S 1000 RR, a Sport version will also be available with pricing from £14,760 OTR. In addition to the standard features, the Sport includes Dynamic Damping Control (DDC), Gear Shift Assist Pro, heated grips, LED indictors and a colour coded pillion seat cover.

The R1 will have to ride very special or be discounted heavily or the beemer will win the sales war. Its £1300 cheaper in base trim and still £250 cheaper with semi active suspension and all the other bells and whistles.

They will certainly be more value. I wonder if the 13/14 HP4 will be more affordable?

In that part of the market I don't think price makes much difference. A lot of people are brand loyal and others will be swayed by looks and reviews.

Fair point but I know BMW were holding back on releasing price until after Yamaha had priced the R1 as they purposely wanted to undercut Yamaha.

I m brand loyal to Honda but fancy a change and although wouldn't buy new if I was the £1300 price saving on the beemer would be very tempting.

I can see Yamaha doing a very blush launch in an attempt to bribe the journos to write the r1 up as the best thing since sliced bread.

The BMW does seem to be the bike to beat, but the Fireblade and the ZX10R are still selling well.

If I wanted an R1 I would certainly be pointing out to dealers that the Beemer is cheaper. I suspect there's little profit in the s1000rr but the Yam might have a bit more wriggle room on the price. We'll find out when they start to hit the shops.

I do prefer the looks of the R1 though. It's really grown on me.

I suspect the Yamaha will have a better build quality than the BMW and will hold its value more too.

Any of these bikes have more performance than the average rider can hope to use so choices will be based on more than ultimate bhp or speed.

The BMW has very strong residuals I will be surprised if the Yamaha can match it.

I don't mean to slag of the Yam i think it will be an amazing machine its just the £1300 premium could effect sales IMO.

Nothing a low finance deal won't sort out. Most people pay with credit so it'll come down to very little in monthly payments.

Suprised at the price it's very good with active suspension etc not sure about the heated grips though

Heated grips are great, perkles. I was always very sceptical but they do a job.

The super bike market is looking juicy at the moment ,I wonder when a new batch of super 600s will come out

The 600 market has virtually stalled apart from the efforts of Kawasaki and Triumph.
