I can't believe how many bikes are being nicked at the moment. The last couple of months all I've seen on a daily basis are reports of stolen bikes

Had a chat with a lad the other day down at my mates garage had his bike nicked a few months back been paid out etc. He spotted it on gumtree a few days ago so he rang the police to report it and they said why do you care about it you have been paid out and suggested they were not really interested. So he contacted his insurance company as its there bike again did not seem overly interested.

Motorbike theft doesn't seem to be an important issue to the Police.

I'd like to know what is an important issue to the police to be honest.

Theft of any kind seems to be very low on their list of priorities.

Even people I know who work in the legal system wonder what they actually do these days.

It is a shocking attitude, but strangely not suprising. Sadly.

I suspect they're as pissed off as we are. The cuts being made are made in all the wrong places. You can't expect to reduce your emergency services and have a decent level of support for the public.

I don't disagree with that, Kwacky, but some of the things i have been told about those who make the decisions at the top of these police forces, its no wonder crime pays.

Shame about the response, but as you say the Police are getting cuts everywhere, and when you have to listen to belly aching and moaning on a constant basis, regardless if it is correct or not, you start to become hardened to it, and your responses could be seen as non caring, when in fact you are most likely just as fed up as the rest of us...

As for the insurance companies, I think they cover themselves with the premiums anyway, so they are quids in (IMO) I dont know for a fact, but my gut says so. Shame really.

The key would be to take a much harder approach to the people who steal in the first place... surely this would reduce costs all the way down the line. But somehow I feel this may be me being too simple.

That's shocking. He is giving the police a really good lead into a crime and if followed up and the scum bags caught and prosecuted it could stop further crime.

The Police response is you've been paid out why are you bothered, well that's easy your a decent member of society and want dishonest scumbags removing from our community's.

I would seriously make an official complaint. The police are public's servants and need to remeber that. Cuts or not they have a duty and obligation to catch criminals.

I'm truly disappointed to hear this was the police response.

Totally agree blade we all said the same ... So maybe they could catch the people that did it..... But it seems it was a bit too much effort. I don't think bike crime is high on the police priorities round my area with plenty been stolen and the police not really interested in returning bikes that they have in there PossessIon.

Should have gone to buy the bike, had a test ride, and rode off. What they gonna do? Report you for stealing it?
