The result from the pole that has surprised me is the 1299 is as popular as the RCV. Or have people just used there second vote ?

The duke was my second vote, but if I could only pic one and it was to be my only bike I'd go for the duke.

Nissan GTR or Ferrari 458? The Nissan is arguably the better car, but I'd take the Ferrari any day of the week

Interesting also that the Yamaha has 'Nil point'.
Yet i suspect that might make the best road bike of the lot and probably be the biggest seller too.
I'd love an RSV4-RR (though not in that appalling paint scheme) but i know the chances are I would be buying a whole load of trouble.

Duke have you heard of a lot of problems specific to the rsv4 or is your opinion based on the terrible experience you encountered with your tuono.
Only reason I ask is very seriously considering replacing the blade with the rsv4

Re: Which new litre+ bike would you have?
The duke does look amazing. The only problem IMO is it is a difficult bike to ride, which is not just something all the journos say but my own experience also. When test riding it back to back with my own blade and a rsv4 factory I found it to hardcore for the road which is a shame as I really wanted to like it.

I still hear owners moan about the reliability of their RSV4.Blade wrote:Duke have you heard of a lot of problems specific to the rsv4 or is your opinion based on the terrible experience you encountered with your tuono.

Guy on PB forum posted up the other day how he and his mate bought one each at the same time and they both had exactly the same problems with their bikes and nearly everyone still complains about the lack of quickly available spares.
From what i hear the later bikes are better. The main issues that i hear of are leaking gaskets, bikes hard to start when hot ( battery appears flat but bike will restart once it cools), TPS modules failing and service lights coming on on the dash.
Best places to find out more is AF1 Forum http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/foru ... and-RSV4-R" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I would also be tempted to ring Griff at Aprilia Performance and ask his opinion on the RSV4. I don't really know how hot he is on the V4 engine but he is THE expert on the V2 engine and worked for Aprilia UK at one time.
His number is at the top of the rsvr.net website. http://www.rsvr.net/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Which new litre+ bike would you have?
Are the later bikes prone to fewer faults as Aprilla sorted the issues or is it beucase they are lower mileage and faults tend to occur on older, higher mileage machines ?

I think its more the faults have slowly been improved.
Whatever you would want a bike equipped with the APRC anyway.

Sell your Blade to Spudda. It'll almost be clean enough for his standards.

Re: Which new litre+ bike would you have?
My last RSV4 was a 12 plate and never missed a beat, if I could afford one just for the odd little pop out I would get one in a heartbeat but long rides just kill my knees. Hence having the multi.
Even better if I could get one to turn into a track bike !!!! Unlikely though.

Re: Which new litre+ bike would you have?
Yes I believe my13 had abs and slightly larger tank to improve range as there a bit thirsty.
I would go for a 12 plate most prob as budget would be tight for a my13 and I want the factory.
Should have bought yours Mick, and I did consider it too.

Re: Which new litre+ bike would you have?
i spoke to a paggets about the rsv4 and he's a really nice guy (arnt they all ). I have been to the shop several times asking about different bikes. he knew i was not after a new bike and he had no used ones in but still took the time to go through the pros and cons. At the end of the conversation it was dont buy an early one buy as late as you can but they take a big hit in depreciation new. I would say the depreciation on a ducati is less unless they bring out another new model next year
"80mph" sorry officer I possibly could not have done that I'm no Valentino Rossi.
