not ridden the old bike but im sure no review i read said what this bike needs is more POWER. Im sure they all said it was a handful and it had too much grunt.
"80mph" sorry officer I possibly could not have done that I'm no Valentino Rossi.

I believe the 1198 was a torque monster and alwats written up as a handful but I think a lot of reviews did suggest the 1199 was lacking midrange in comparison with its competition.
It would seem in 2015 if you haven't got 200 bhp you have got a full fat sportsbikr anymore.

I think it makes more sense. You can put more or less fuel in a bike it's a variable, but it comes out of the factory with the same amount of oil, coolant and a battery*Blade wrote:If there's no fuel then its not really a wet weight IMO its more "a little bit wet weight as it sounds better" which is just plain sillyMonty wrote:I'm sure he said it was a wet weight excluding fuel in the presentation, but the the Ducati web site now says 164kg dry.Blade wrote:166kg is dry weight so wet weight will be circa 196kg which is just under actual weighed wet weights of the 1199.
The lithium battery accounts for 2kg of the 6kg weight saving.
There are two weights in my book one is completely empty of any fluid the other is fully fueled and ready to ride and these seem to be the industry accepted standards, fooling around with semi wet weight figures is a feeble attempt to make it sound better on paper than it actually is IMO
Recon it would be better if all manufactures used the slightly damp rating system.
* see Aprilia data they exclude the battery, not sure if anyone else does. Which just makes comparison even more random.

Now i know Aprilia reliability is not the best, but even i understand leaving the battery off makes for a pretty shite bike.

Good point Monty and I agree with your comments, I hadn't considered that angle.
When reading reviews in mags you often see wet weights quoted next to dry weights in group tests and it looks to some that one bike in a group test has a wildely different weight to its competitors which is largely untrue its just bad journalism.

How about wet weight includes 5 litres of fuel only? Now that would work betterer.

I was thinking 4.5 litres and maybe the oil level at minimum.

Be interesting to see if there is a downward pressure on the prices of early 1199 Panigales over the next few months.

Seen a few pictures of this dark stealth colour which is a 2014 1199 colour. Looks stunning, proper racebike stylee. Not seen one in the flesh though.

+1, for me a Duke (or a Ferrari) would have to be red.Kwacky wrote:Not for me. It has to be red.
Having said that, the stealth one in your pic looks does look utterly DDG.

Change gears using the buttons on the left bar. No need to use the clutch lever or gear lever whether going up or down the box.

Re: Panigale 1299 First Pics & Details
I think i might see if someone will accept £5k for their old 1199 seeing as how they are very much last years' tech.
