Anyone know what's a sensible price for a single bike trailer in good nick

I've found one on the bay of evil that is quite close to me. Looks in good condition and the seller wants and ton. Is this sensible, I've never looked at trailers so all advice welcomed.

That sounds a decent price. Provided it's in good nick.

If it's in good nick and decent quality that is an absolute bargain.

If your handy, you can fit tow bars yourself depending on the car. I've done a couple now. Electrics aren't too bad either, save yourself loads.

I recently put a tow bar on our car shop around for the tow bar. I got mine from a company in manchester they were on eBay and worked out a lot cheaper than tow sure. Fitted it my self was pretty simple the electrics were simple but I did pay quite a bit for plug and play as we have reversing sensors on the car so the box I bought switches the sensors off when we are towing.

Re the trailer, a few points to look for:

First off make sure it's meant for a 17" wheeled road bike - there's a lot out there that are primarily designed for off-roaders with 19" front wheel.
Secondly has it got the CE plate on it, this isn't essential but will help with your insurance company in the event of an accident.
Thirdly, check what sort of wheel bearings it has, the tapered adjustable type are way better than the non-adjustable.
Fourth, price, £100 is fairly cheap for a decent road bike trailer in my experience, so check for corrosion, cracked joints, dodgy electrics and if the ball hitch locks in place.

If all that checks out I'd say you've got a bargain!

Like Cookie I've fitted a couple of towbars and depending on your car it varies in difficulty, get a decent make that's CE marked and try and avoid the hideous scotchlock connectors that are supplied with some kits, they only leave problems for the future in my experience. If you've got a modern car that tells you if a bulb is out you'll need a repeater box type harness, they're a bit more agg to fit, but far better in operation and don't screw up the cars electronics.

do you have someone that does something like this in UK? Got a friend that has one, cost about AUD$800 new and registered and takes up no space at all, very well built.
