Looking for a replacement for my phone. Cat knocked my water over and the phone was next to it. The phone is dead. I've done the rice thing,, It's a HTC One x+ so it's a sealed unit - you can't remove the battery or cover. My contract can't be renewed before 30th Nov so it looks like I've got to buy a second hand one until then.

small sim v large sim. I need a converter. Plus I need a smartphone.

I had an HTC First....which is prolly the 'One'.....I really liked it....for a technophobe like me I found it fairly easy to use.....then I made the mistake of lending it to some chick I was hanging out with, for just one night, and it came back smashed.

I have an I-phone 5-S now and I don't like it....the operation is not as intuitive, the battery life is poor, and the reception isn't as good......much of the latter will be due to my location - my area in Orange has poor reception for AT&T.....but the last one didn't do that??

Frankly I'm not impressed.

Kwacky google reviveaphone. As seen on dragons den, its an isopropanol bath for your phone. Fixed mine after a proper soaking and I'd left it for weeks before I tried it.

Thanks Andy. I'll give that a go. £13 is cheaper than a new phone.

Don't be so sure.. Have a look on YouTube there are quite a few vids on how to open then. I accidentally wiped the memory card on my HTC One had a look at getting it out, I would have done too much damage getting the card out but did get the phone open. Tools required, guitar pick, a sat nav suction mount, some BFI.

I drowned my phone! Wouldn't turn on, wouldn't charge. Tried the rice method but nothing so I got a new phone. Spotted that reviveaphone on dragons den and hey presto, fixed!

It seems it works for some and not others as i was looking at the reviews on Amazon. I did exactly the same thing with mine a few weeks ago.

Their website gives a rough idea if it's worth a go, tbh with good second hand phones being a bit costly it's a good bet whatever the odds they give you.

I was VERY sceptical that it would work! My phone had been dead for weeks before I tried it.
The only thing listed on the bottle is Isopropanol which you might be able to pick up cheaper? What have you got to lose?

They've got really good specs, the only downside is they are a little on the large side. Not quite a bit as a Samsung Note, but not far off.

The missus decided to wash my phone in the washing machine. Didn't work for a while, but finally after the bag of rice and being in the sun, I got it to work. However, the camera still doesn't work, and neither does the microphone (so people think I am doing crank calls even when for a change I am not).

I was going to sell the phone as spares or repair, but I'm tempted by that revive a phone now. I've since bought a second hand one as I liked it (LG 4x HD something)

Big market in second hand phones now as new smartphones don't really do much more than their previous generation tbh. My last two have been secondhand refurbs.

Sadly that stuff didn't work.

Think I'll buy a second hand phone to tide me over until my contract expires.

if it's literally less than a month until you can get what you want, I have a cheap PAYG I can send you to tide you over.
It's a ZTE Blade III on Virgin, I've never really used the number, it's got £3 on it you could just use it as it is

I'm using an old HTC Desire for now. A local shop said they will look at the phone for free or charge £30 if they can repair it. If they can't repair it I've been offered a family deal - 3 phones for £40 pcm with 4gb of data. I'm tempted by that.
