Dad's Army

Post by Kwacky »

I see they're making a film based on teh classic TV series.

I'm not too sure how I feel about this. I guess it's good to see it's still enjoyed enough for someone to splash the cash on a film

Decent casting as well

Nighy is a perfect choice....I'm a big fan of his....the others I don't really know, except for Zeta-Jones, and she's just eye-candy.

Jones in a 1940s pin-up style outfit will be worth the cinema fee alone.

They've got it pretty well covered except for Toby Jones, don't rate him at all, David Mitchell or even Suchet if he can do comedy would have been my choice.

The only UK to US sitcom I can think of was The Office. That was crap to start off with.

It wasn't THAT bad...the original hasn't held up too well....I thought the newer one was pretty decent.

It's ok if you treat it as a new film and not a remake.

Be interested to see how this pans out

"don't panic Mr Mannering!" Has been a catch cry of mine for the last 30+ yrs. unfortunately! not many people in Aussie get it, so americanised here. NZ got all the good English shows.

Interesting comment...."Americanised".....not sure it exists any more....at least not in the traditional sense.
I'm sure it does somewhere, but Cali is all Latino and Asian....or at least 50% so.

Meant as in they have more USA developed TV programming. They never got Basil Brush, Worsel Gummage, The Wombles, Das Army, It ain't Half Hot Mum, Benny Hill and all that good stuff. Corro St to my knowledge has never played on AUS TV. In NZ all those programmes were the staple growing up.
