Tyre decision
Ok. my rear tyre is fecked now. It's had a tack/nail in it for a long time and now has zero grooves in the squared centre. In this greasy weather it's getting a bit spinny.
So what do I do? I get paid Friday, but I could really do with not spending too much,
I have the following options. Keep the front Qualifier and fit a Roadsmart II for £164. This is the cheapest option, but probably limits me to roadsmart ii.
Or I can get a pair fitted. I don't know the pair cost but the differences in rears are below
Roadsmart II £164
Pirelli Angel ST £149
Metzler M5 £146

Re: Tyre decision
Those Angels are really good. They're probably best for you at that price and with all the miles you do commuting.

Re: Tyre decision
That's what I was thinking when I asked them to quote. Weather is turning now anyway, so a sporty tyre is going to be less of a priority. And mileage/squaring off is what is causing me to swap so soon.

Re: Tyre decision
Shop around. There are a few deals on at present. I've seen rears for a lot less than that.

Re: Tyre decision
I used a German company for the m7's I had shipped in. A bit cheaper than the UK and where delivered in a couple of days. I'll try and hunt the link out later.
For the tyres, I would deffo go for a pair and keep the qualifier for next year.

Re: Tyre decision
Why not put a used tyre on for the winter? Right price etc and then put some decent current rubber on next spring when you're flush again?
Something like this one? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190-50-ZR-17- ... 2c8a5e43cf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Tyre decision
Personally I prefer to have really good rubber over winter. The roads are cold, damp and covered in leaves and salt, you don't want to make matters worse by having crap tyres on as well.

Re: Tyre decision
I'm not surprised no one has bid on that. Look at the repair!!!!
I would think you are leaving yourself open to being sued selling something like that.

Re: Tyre decision
Fair one, just an idea to try and cut costs. That tyre was a shocker, but just an example of a rear tyre around the £40-£80 mark.Kwacky wrote:Personally I prefer to have really good rubber over winter. I had worn summer tyres the last winter I had the D600, let's just say it wasn't a happy parting.

Re: Tyre decision
Yeah I used moto-tyre before (think i sent you the link originally) only trouble is getting them fitted, and the extra cost of that. PLaces seem to be a bit funny when you supply the tyres and charge £20 a wheel wiping out any saving.
The tyre place has quoted £234 for a pair of angel ST's fitted to the bike ride in ride out.
I think I just can't get over how much all tyres seem to be. Tried to get a quote from anotehr place that has a presence online, but got no reply.
