Operation

rather than hijack the other thread
My op is on Thursday 21st August. It'll be under general. They are going to remove the lower of the two screws close to my elbow. I've been having problems with the muscle catching on it. That can inflame the area.
The plan is to cut the arm and simply take the screw out
I've no idea how long I'll be out of action but I'm hoping as it's not a big op I should be able to get on a bike within a week or two.

Kwacky obviously I'm not a surgeon but I reckon you will be fine as basically it is nothing more than a flesh wound. I had a plate and 8 screw's removed and was driving within 24 hours and functioning at 100% within the week if not before. Don't fret mate the original op was surrounded by trauma and damaged tissue, muscle etc this really is a flesh wound if they just open you up get the srewwdriver in and staple you back together. Not meant to be harsh but in fact the complete opposite, I hope its reassuring, I have had similar and been back to full strength within days if not hours.
All these best mate and if I can help or assist you have my number don't hesitate to call.

Nice one Blade. You're right, it's a healthy arm this time with muscle so I reckon I should be ok in a short period of time.

I'm sure you will mate. A flesh wound was how my surgeon described my op to me and I found it really reassuring to get some straight talking. Saying that it would be rude not to milk it for all its worth with friends, family and colleagues

The surgeon recommends Mrs Kwacky's bj's? Are you sure you meant that, Blade?

And also don't forget, this time it's a planned operation. They can work out exactly what they want to do to minimise the impact of the operation, it does make a very big difference. My brother in law has just had a pin removed from his leg as it was causing him real pain, a couple of days later he was almost back to normal..
