Hmm. Not sure about this.

Bike HUD. Not a bad idea, but more about how it attaches to your lid.

I just think these things are too much distraction and a solution to a problem that does not exist.

I bought a bike specific satnav earlier in the year and I have barely used that as it encourages me to take my eyes of the road too much.

Have you got a bluetooth thing for your lid? I use my Garmin with one and then I don't look at it much at all.

I could see the benefit when using a satnav, but not the speed / rev / gear indicator. As Duke says, far too distracting.

My main concern would be the huge lump of plastic under the visor right next to my face. That's surely got to block you peripheral vision and could be a little disconcerting should it vibrate loose while riding.

No i haven't. Maybe worth having a look.

To be honest i like to plan my route on Google maps and write it down and just use the satnav as a backup if i get really lost. More fun to me that way.

And me. But I don't mind getting lost on a bike so long as I'm still moving and not stuck in traffic.

I've got a pretty decent sense of direction (most of the time). I love getting lost when I've got no where to go and no time pressures, but I hate not knowing where I am going when I need to be somewhere.

I have thought about getting a sat nav for the bike, but the technique of planning the route on google and then remembering a few major town names seems to do the trick.

That's what I do with mine and leave my phone in my pocket. I find instructions like take the third exit at the roundabout much less distracting than looking at the screen. Doesn't work that well in towns or on laned motorways, but I can live with that.

From wikipedia
A head-up display or heads-up display[1]—also known as a HUD—is any transparent display that presents data without requiring users to look away from their usual viewpoints.
Not exactly transparent is it that big black box?

I'd actually quite like a head up display if it was projected onto my visor properly. I'd have gear indicator displayed in the corner and maybe a warning for speed cameras.

Waste of time, and obstruction of vision. Not for me thanks. When I am on my bike its me and no phones ringing, ipads pinging with emails every second... I want it to stay like that.
