World Cup Thread

Similar to the TT thread I thought Id post a World Cup thread for people who like footie to discuss it. Im really looking forward to watching Belgium play they have some awesome players (slightly biased as 3 of them play for Spurs) and fancy them to be dark horses in the tournament although its hard to look past Brazil or Argentina as potential winners.

I think Belgium will do quite well and upset a few.

I was sort of thinking England would do well but given the last 2 performances, I cant see past the Quarters

England never do well before a world cup. I'll be happy with them making it to the Semis.

I don't think you can discount the hosts.

I think Englands whole world cup depends on the 1st game, beat Italy and theres a good chance we will get out the group, if we dont I think were in trouble

Dunno if you guys saw this but pretty special

I think England will make it past Italy but will struggle with any teams based in the really hot climates.

I really don't think there has been enough training to cope with the heat they are going to have to put up with and can quite see either Brazil and definitely Argentina to lift the cup

Their friendly the other night was mediocre at best and I still believe they put club before country as do I for quite some time.

I think Rooney will be sidelined depending how the first game ends and hopefully so the annoying little scrote

And there's my amateur armchair opinion and will look forward to August rather more than the next few weeks

How my attitude has changed considering not too far back I was the first in the pub to cheer everyone on with a glimmer of hope we'd do well, I think if we get to the quarters we will be lucky

Italy can be slow starters so we may have a chance however we will not get very far we are just not that good a team. It will be fun to watch.

If England win the World Cup, Scotland will be an independent country in October.

Always enjoy a decent World Cup.

That penalty of Neymar's above is just pure genius.

I'm not bothering this time, can't face the angst followed by the guaranteed disappointment!

Last time I watched the world cup I supported Ireland. Yep thats right 2002.
Since then I've always been out on the bike when the matches have been on for both Euros and World cup. The raods are empty.
Hopefully the bike will be up and running by next Thurs, a nice evening ride to North Wales and back should be lovely.

Thought I'd watch the opening ceremony.

Awful.

A 5 year old could have done better!

I would rather boil a tramps undies for 2 hours and drink the broth than watch foozeball.

I quite like watching the ladies in the crowds though......
