Is all fully booked already. Tried 7 cottages and all booked over a year in advance.

If your not a repeat visitor year on year with a block booking its virtual impossible to get decent digs.

I really want to go and all the family are well up for it but were not camping types and want some where nice with some private space and parking as it is a holiday after all. At this rate I don't think we will be going.

Maybe try and speak with goose, he managed to sort us out something when we went a couple of years back.

Or see if Moonwitch could ask around while she's out there?

Thanks for the suggestions guys but I don't like to impose.

I'm going to send the tourist board an email and ask them if there is any new cottages or properties to let that are similar to what were looking for.

Have you tried the Homestay scheme? There's self catering flats with 3 bedrooms in there still available, but at £150 pp it's a bit pricey.

Home stay is your best option.

Some home stays will not be released yet so you need to keep trying. You will get something!

Had not considered home stay as we have young children. There not badly behaved but would feel awkward in someone else house expecting my kids to be on there best behaviour. There obviously on holiday too and need to relax and be themselves which anyone with young kids will known isn't always pretty.

Home stay is great. All you need do is explain your situation and if they don't like the fact you have kids they will say. As you know the islanders and lovely people. It's usually cheaper and more flexible than b&b and some of them do it to support the TT as much as they do to make money.

If you've got kids and your taking the car then peel is defo worth a look for the beach.

Tbh I wouldn't take the bikes to the TT again, the roads are getting silly and the ferry prices the same for two bikes (as we do).

Yeah we like Peel. Went there a few times last year when we went to the classic TT.

If we go it will be in the car (hopefully the new one) for the reasons you say.

I tried in 2009 to organize for 2010 not realising how hard it would be, most b&b's were booked till 2013, 4 yrs in advance, camping is an option I suppose, maybe we could have a grand 2015 Tankslap tent-fest thing

I havent been and the Fun Adjuster and I have spoke about going over .... is there a static caravan park or anything like that ??

I'd like to go to watch the racing next year if only for a couple of days but would consider flying in. Having seen the vids of the roads over race weeks, i personally can't see much point in taking the bike.

It used to be, even to be able to have a one way road across the mountain.

The last 5 years have got progressively worse with people throwing themselves off the roads left right and centre.

I see Moonie is saying on FB that the mountain section has already been closed a number of times already and she and Pitty have only been their a couple of days.

Its inevitable that speed limits will be introduced eventually.

I hope not Duke as I wouldn't want to go unless to watch the racing if that was the case. If people are driving inappropriately or dangerously they should be dealt with firmly and fairly as individual cases.

Saying that I remember when we went last year just after the TT and some of the unrestricted areas had been changed for temporary speed limits

Its the only way they will stop idiots riding beyond their capabilities unfortunately.

Mrs Nutz and I where talking about the TT the other evening. She was asking if I ever wanted to go.

I'd have to say the answer was yes, just to take in the atmosphere. But I don't think I would ever take the bike over on TT week. As has been previously noted, the mountain section is closed more than it's open due to muppets and I would has a decent guess that traffic elsewhere is just a complete nightmare. I think I would just get myself pretty fit and take a mountain bike over.

I think speed limits will gradually creep in on more and more sections of the course, it's an inevitability as the cotton wool brigade push harder and harder. Hopefully though they will only be for the week when the racing is on and relax back to normality afterwards.
