My new limited edition Bowie print came today.

I popped to Halfords yesterday and picked up some oil and a Torque Wrench (12nm - 60nm) will be good for small jobs.

Great tool Rossgo. Probably the most useful size torque wrench when working on a bike, you will find your using it all the time

That was my thinking as well to be honest! It covers so much on and around the bike. Looks like proper good quaility too. I'll use it for the oil change and brake cleaning jobs next week

Decent tools for the money Halfords Professional too. Money well invested imo.

The Halfords torque wrenches are hard to beat for quality and value. I have both of the sizes.

I really like Halfords Advanced/Professional tools. The only other tools I would actually consider purchasing are Wera or Bahco. The Bahco sockets are a tighter tolerance IMO and fit nuts better. Wera are great for small jobs.

So as I've said ive bought the 12-60nm torque wrench however ive realised that when zeroed it isn't at 12nm. I've got some pics to explain it better than what i can write!!

It makes me disbelieve the reading but if yours are the same then maybe it's me

I've also taken a pic of how the instructions have shown how it should be

Please take a look - is mine faulty?!

- So instructions say how it should be
- the main reading is off scale but the second reading is at zero
- when main reading is at 12nm the second reader is saying 2
- the second reader then zeros when at 15nm

* By the looks of it in the instructions it should say

12nm main reader - zeroed second reader
18nm main reader - 3 second Reader

If I'm reading that correctly!!

Does any of that make sense?!!

Any help.would be great !

I have no idea what you just typed Rossgo!

The 2nd photo is the correct zero - that should be 12Nm. Effectively it's saying not to unscrew it further than 12Nm as you could cause damage/it isn't designed for that so you may not receive the torque you think and the fastener could subsequently become loose (i.e. avoiding a lawsuit)

Yes tjis is what i was thinking but why is my second reader at 2. I thought when at 12nm (the lowest torque) the lower reader should be zeroed, right? Or am I being stupid?!

Looks like they have changed the design since I bought mine. Mine is different.

Halfords torque wrenches are, as far as I can tell, re-branded Norbar. They are one of the top names in the industry although a bit harder to adjust than a Britool... That 4 years in a Calibration lab gave me some insight and all of my torque wrenches are Norbar/Halfords.

Oh, and don't go below the minimum value and think it will be okay, I tried that once, ONCE! it cost me a new set of pretty expensive injector hold down bolts on a VW diesel and the cost of the proper torque wrench.

Yea it is remanded top range kit. The Halfords PRO stuff are very good, I tend to buy Halfords stuff to be honest as i cant tell the diff between top brands and the pro!!
Jeez I defo won't be using the torque wrench below the minimum after reading that!

@Rossgo, the thing with the numbers on it (0, 1, 2), does that rotate through to the number 5?
