Nothing.

The roads were clear so I took the car. 30 minutes into work. It's not a fast car but the engine was booted :D

Haha nice.. My commute was bliss. I was doing 60 on the M5. I only overtook 1 lorry and another was slowly catching me.

So little traffic, so little stress :)

My wife only uses her car for pottering around in, so I'm actually doing her a favour by bouncing it off the rev limiter while I do flat-shifting (rock)

It does my non-DPF diesel good too!

The Audi either gets 20 miles of motorway each journey for 1 week at a time or 1 mile of 30mph for 3 weeks. At the end of the 3 weeks it is pretty crap to drive.

After the first motorway jaunt and the engine is nice and warm I give it a good thrash and the amount of smoke that dumps its load is quite phenomenal.. drives much better afterwards!!!

Wifes diesel has a DPF and she does alot of short journeys.

To force a DPF regeneration the BMW procedure says dive at a minimum of 2200rpm for 20 minutes continuously. This will raise the EGT high enough to burn of any particles clogging the filter.

Strangely I did this yesterday for her with a blast up the motorway as periodically I like to force a regen of the DPF filter as preventative maintenance.

Despite not much traffic I still went on my bike. And did the commute in record time.

My gloves and helmet were still wet from Fridays ride home though. So was pleasant

Washed it, cleaned and lubed the chain, checked the pressures, and booked it in to have the left switch gear replaced. The switch for the cruise control fell off on the last ride...

Fully washed it.

Used my new ABBA stand. Unfortunately, while I was spinning the front wheel the handlebar turned suddenly and the whole bike went to a really steep angle. Its nicked part of the frames paintwork - not bad by any means but enough just to see it. After taking the full stand out I reassessed the situation it was possible that the clamp wasn't tight enough enough though it felt pretty decent. Placed it back on the stand and reassessed how it felt. Seemed fairly decent and had no issue the second time around

I can't seem to place it on the stand by myself however. Is there a nack to it - to anyone who has one? I really struggled.

Going back to cleaning. Took a look at the chain and it seemed to have rust on it. After a thorough wash the rust went. It was filthy really needed it. Letting it dry now but in couple of days I'll ACF50 the whole bike

Just make sure it's a fluid confident movement with the handle.

Cheers Kwacky certainly will do. It's the lining up I was struggling with and the lifting of the front wheel. I'll have to keep practising. I've watched videos of big fellas standing on the bike whilst on the stands with no issues so I know it's good quality

Unless you have the extra front lift stand, the stand lifts the rear wheel only.

A car scissor jack under the headers works well, block of wood or rubber is optional.
I made a mess when I used a hockey puck and forgot about it, I started the bike and it is now custom shaped to the headers.

Like Stonesie, I use a trolley jack and a bit of cardboard under the exhaust at the front of the bike. Getting the stand attached gets easier with practice!

I have the extra lift which lifts front too - the second time around the bike did feel more stable but it was niggling in the back of my head where it slipped and scratched my frame .

Thanks for the suggestions though. Andy that lift seems impossible to lift the bike by yourself lol. I've watched vids where one bloke does it by himself...how can they do that it seems hard!!! I'm hoping you are right that it does become easier with time as I do believe it's going to be better than paddock stands!!

If your lifting the bike with the front lifter attached then your doing it wrong.

Watch the vid on the abba stand site. It shows the bike bring lifted up in the stand and then the front lifter attached when it's up. Lifting up onto the stage is a piece of piss, I did it countless times with the KTM and that was top heavy PITA.

I'm fairly certain I did it right but I need to do it again and again I think to get it to a stage of being able to do it by myself confidently. Lifting the bike up onto rear wheel using the long lifting arm is very easy but attaching the bike up to the stand i found very difficult without help and then lifting the front wheel up I rrally struggled with it!

I need to do it again I think

Do you have the front wheel lift?
