Some truly stunning machines out this year. Group tests are going to be amazing. Got to be the best year for new bikes ever IMO.

Hmmmm looks like it's a lot better than the 1199, even AF agreed it made the old 1199 feel stiff and awkward and another couple of comments which reassured me in making the right decision to get rid of mine.
AF was drooling over it but he did say it would be interesting to see what it's like on the public roads, which is where the 1199 failed IMO.

They have targeted areas for improvement to make it better on the road so let's hope they deliver. Personally I see no reason for it to fail as a good road bike as they have the 1199R to develop for track and racing demands, the 1299 is now purely a road going superbike. Obviously proof will be in the pudding but I'm very optimistic this will be a good vtwin for the road. I say vtwin as it will have differences to the il4's some to its advantage and others to its disadvantage so always a difficult comparison IMO.

Im in total agreement with you on that, just interesting to see what they think of it on the road, so far it sound fantastic. I wouldn't buy one though well unless I came into a lot of money, which I doubt.
I still think 'what if' every time I see one.

Sounds a good plan and ask me about your track bike in 2 years would you (y) and make sure there is plenty of bling bolt on's between now and then ;)

Duke you need to get this bike mate, start selling spare organs now (rolf)

Fast bikes have just road tested it and scored it 10 out of 10. The same magazine has the all conquering 2015 S1000rr road test in and they scored the BMW 9.9 out of 10.

Yes I know, Blade. Not wanted a bike so much in a long time. However it will have to wait until next year.

I think I'd want to ride it first before having an opinion. These magazines are good at testing bikes, but they have way more talent than any of us do on a bike and can exploit its abilities to therefore judge them against each other better, especially on track.

I wouldn't want to think wow this is the bike for me and then be disappointed when it's too powerful or performs best at 8/10s or above and on the road the max it can be ridden is 5/10.

Don't get me wrong, it promises to be good, but I tend to believe myself more than the Internet.

I can see why you might want one a lot Duke and also why next year there will be some second hand ones with 57 miles on them and skidmarks on the seats from the wanabee's....

The Panigale has now matured into a good bike, when they came out they were a bit rough around the edges IMO.

I wouldn't buy one without a long demo first, Cookie. The 899 Panigale i test rode last autumn was the sweetest handling bike i have ever ridden and since the 1299 now has the same geometry as this, i suspect it may well have all the sweet handling of the 899 but with extra power and all the gizmos to make that power in some way useable to a muppet like me.

If i don't feel its right for me i can always buy an 899 instead.

Or just keep the 748 and buy a new Multi.

Lots of options when the time comes. Always nice to have something to help the work hours easier to cope with and a reason for doing extra. :)

All this talk of new bikes, I need to get off my arse next month and test ride a load I reckon..

Duke, I know you would test ride one well before purchase, I know you did with the multi. My point is more I do wonder about all these internet and magazine reviews. Especially when using such bikes in the real world.

I need to see how good all these gizmos are. I really have no idea.

Cookie, i know where you are coming from...but in the real world we could make do with a scooter and a Kia.

But there is more to life than that. Riding a big stupid powerful bike is one of life's big pleasures and we always want more than we really need.

I remember vividly my first ride on my Daytona ( which at the time for me was eye-opening) and then the 954 Fireblade and then the Tuono and the Multistrada.

There is much more than just the stupid power though, its the noise and the pride of ownership and the gizmos.

No we don't need any of them .....but its nice to have them to aim for. :)

I know where your coming from Duke regardless of power the 1299 is a much more desirable bike than the 899.
