I'm not denying the severity of the virus to those affected. I'm saying that they are currently not documenting deaths from any other causes according to the government website.

But they are documenting total deaths and that is up significantly.

My point is they appear to be under reporting the number of Covid 19 deaths.

That's my point, deaths are up 6000 on average, 2000 of those are existing respiratory diseases and 4000 are 'confirmed' (or at least recorded) as Coronavirus.

The media are portraying it as 6000 coronavirus deaths when that is documented as incorrect. The media are making it literally 50% worse!

And Coronavirus as a "contributing factor" will also skew the figures to a degree.

Respiratory disease detent mean you're going to die.

Having a respiratory condition and contracting covid19 is a different matter though.

The figures and link I provided are from the government and are accumulated weekly giving a more accurate average.

One things for certain, the deaths are exponentional and while the contracted figures have plateaued (fact) we are also told that testing isn't happening. This leaves 2 possibilities: death rate will soon plateau (I can't remember if they still believe there is a 2 week delay between contraction/death) or the contraction rate is still exponential and thus we have 10s of thousands of deaths remaining.

So why wouldn't you put covid19 as the cause of death?

The data shows a typical death rate of 1500 in the UK from respiratory disease therefore why WOULD you put it down as Covid?



I merely think the media are bloating the figures. I have no reason to believe the figures provided by the government are anything but fact and there is definitely a difference between the government figures and the media headlines.

Many aids and cancer patients die of pneumonia not the latter and pneumonia goes on the death certificate,ive forgot my point now but this whole thing upsets me a lot

5.4m people in the UK are living with asthma. The vast majority of them lead normal lives. They're at risk of suffering from worse effects of Covid 19 as it attacks the respiratory system.

My argument is this - if they contract Covid 19 and they die, would you put cause of death as asthma?

Using Perkles example, death of AIDS sufferers is usually put as "complications arising from acquired immune deficiency syndrome" so I can't see why they wouldn't do the same for covid19

You're completely ignoring my point that there is a typical death rate of 1500 people per week in the UK from respiratory disease. This is documented.

My point is that the media are claiming these [unfortunately] common deaths are because of the coronavirus when they absolutely and categorically are not. That's a fact according to the government figures which I have to assume are not fudged.

The fact is, of the 6000 claimed coronavirus deaths this week (which was actually 1.5 weeks ago) just 4000 of them are the virus. Still too high and I'm an advocate for social distancing and great hygiene.. we all need to keep trying our best.

I am not claiming the virus isn't a killer.
I am not claiming the virus isn't absolutely devastating families across the country and world.

I am simply saying that the media are bloating the numbers (probably for fear mongering) when the fact is a much better outlook.

I am stating facts so I really do not understand what all of your problem is with these numbers.

This whole thing is shit and I really do feel for everyone suffering, both directly and indirectly. I don't wish to upset anyone going through it themselves quite simply because I am stating facts provided by the government.

I am not arguing anything other than the numbers and the categorical and documented causes of death.

They are trying to cover their own backs for the inevitable shitfest that will occur when there is an enquiry into this.

16,000 died in a week during the current crisis.

Your 1500 are already accounted for in the 10,000.

I'm not ignoring your point. Your point seems to be that the 1500 should be deducted from the extra 6,000.

Manchester Nightingale Hosptial opened today. I believe the first two patients were admitted today.

I realise the government isn't popular with many on here and are currently open for criticism, but I would rather praise the good then just knock things down. So a big thank you, too all people who are making things happen to fight Coronavirus.
