TBH I was having problems at both ends, when you cornered on the thing it felt the front and back were doing completely different things, the back was too soft and wallowy and felt like it was moving around all the time. The front felt vary vague and I never had any real confidence in it. I took it too an independent ohlins specialist at one point as I wanted him to check there wasn't actually anything fundamentally wrong with the bike. he checked the suspension and said it was ok. he tried to dial it in for me but it just wasn't right.
Silverstone was great but then it nice and smooth and flat, our roads aren't. IMO its a great track bike a poor road bike, just my 10p worth.
When you pay over £20k for a bike I don't expect to have to pay for things as a fix to make it right.
Im not bashing Ducati I like their bikes after all I own a Multi, I just don't think the 1199 lived up to the hype.
I still drool over them when I see one, its a work of art and I still think to myself 'I wonder if I could have lived with it' but when I got back on a the RSV4 I had the answer..no.

Totally agree Mick you shouldn't be shelling out 20 large and then having to fix it. Tweak and adjust it yes but not fix it. Hopefully Ducati have listened to feedback from customers with the changes made to the 1299 and its a better bike for it.

Got to agree with you the rsv4 is the bench mark in handling.

The have moved the rear swing arm pivot point too.

The 1299 is supposed to be more road biased than the 1199 which is why the 1199R keeps the same geometries as the old 1199 so they can use it in superstock and WSBK.

That makes sense Duke.

Refreshing to see someone make a superbike for the road for a change.

I reckon Duke knows only too well a test ride could easily lead to significant reduction in his wealth ;)

I know I have just swapped bikes so in no way should I even be considering anything else, but got to say the 1299s is lush and owning a bright red ducati sportsbike is at the top of my bucket list (y)

IMO for an all round bike on track and road, it would have to be something else to be better than an RSV4.
In a couple of years I can see some of them being in range to be track bikes, then I'm having one.

If they have made the 1299 handle as well as the 899, it will be some motorsickle. 8)

The track test in the video I post suggested as much.

Very radical geometry up front for such a powerful motorcycle.

I'm already on their list at JHP.

I asked to ride the 899 demo and then the 1299 straight afterwards. Sadly (for my pocket) i suspect there will only be one choice. :D

I did counteract their sudden enthusiasm though by saying i wont be buying one this year. ;)
