My first car was an Astra GTE, loved that digi dash but it was a VERY back end happy car. Luckily it died before it could kill me
If the Astra was a GTE it would be a mark one or two. For the mark 3 Astra they changed to GSI.

How many miles has the zx6 got on it Kwacky? Fingers crossed it might yet turn out too bad.

Hey.....I can only go off my own experiences....it just didn't work for me in the slightest, and I make no apologies for something that didn't fit/suit me.

A conrod through your block is far worse. I've rebuilt a motocross bike that did exactly what Kwackys did (given it was only a single rather that four cylinders) and I replaced the piston, honed the bore and changed the valves and seal kit and it was sweet.

The rest of your post was of no relevance to Kwackys situation, he's not going to put a lower powered engine in to replace it is he? And I've never had a rebuilt engine that felt 'crummy'. Even the first engine I rebuilt felt great although I was nervous as hell about it.

But you are right on one regard, a new bike will lift your mood.

So I make no apologies for my statement.

I got shot of my Tuono after the engine rebuild as i never had any faith in it after that especially the shitty way Aprilia and the dealer went about the repair.

Have you heard anymore over this matter Kwacky?

I must say, Kwacky.. your misfortune prompted me to sort my CCT out and on initial impressions the Kawi tick has gone and the bike sounds like it has a better exhaust note. I didn't change the CCT just removed it, reset it and turned the crank a couple of times manually (it clicked 1 further time)

No Rossgo, I'm leaving him to it. I don't want to push it. If he can do the inspection over time when he's got a few minutes he's not going to charge me full whack on the hourly rates, which is what he would need to do if he has to set some time aside to inspect it.

Cav, since the issue I've read up on it and sounds like you've done what you need to. I had noticed mine had started to get noisy but nothing like the CBR noise I had on the 600rr. I was going to ask Mike about it when I was going to his on the night it failed. Guess it's an expensive lesson learned for me.

Not that it's much of a concellation but at least in the meantime you have use of another bike!

That's reassuring! I noticed it was nearly all the way out though which indicates to me that the chain and sprocket need changing in the near future (maybe before I go to Catalunya) It's about £150 for parts. Also, everyone says about replacing the CCT but it is 100% pointless - it is a NON-WEARING PART. (capitals just for emphasis!)

I hope it's nothing that isn't easily remedied and I'm glad you don't own an R6 because those titanium valves cost a fortune, at least they're a reasonable price for our bikes

I see Kwacky that's what I would do as well. It's good to have mechanic's who do this sort of stuff for us. Let us know when he's taken a look. Really hope it isn't all that bad mate

I've asked Mike to give me his opinion and a quote for repairs by the end of June. That gives him a deadline to work towards and me some time to rob a bank.

At the pub this evening I bumped into the main mechanic at Birmingham Kawasaki tonight. He's happy to look at the Kwak for me if Mike doesn't get his finger out. He can;'t give me an estimate until he looks at it but would be prepared to put it at the back of the workshop and work on it as and when he can.

Kawasaki Birmingham seem a very good dealer they have certainly looked after you
